GMR local hotseat mix?
My family and I are looking to start playing long term Civ V together but some of us have multiple players with only one account such as my wife and I and my brother and his wife. We'd all like to play and GMR seems like it should let us all player with fewer account... Is there a way in GMR for one account to have multiple turns? Would I have to set up another steam ID but use the first account that has the game? It'd be easier to get my brother to buy the game if they can both play on one copy. Is this possible?

In current GMR each account can only play one slot in a game. However the account used in GMR in no way needs to match the actual account used to launch and play Civ V. So you could have a single copy of Civ V on your computer and switch which account you use GMR with.

However in our upcoming re-write that we're simply calling Multiplayer Robot we do allow the same account to play as many slots in a game as you wish, simplifying one aspect of your situation. This new MR is currently in alpha testing and you can try it out here: http://new.multiplayerrobot.com/

Yeah, the new MR has its own desktop app that you can install from the site.

Thank you very much for your reply Nullmaster. That does look promising!

The front page has "Pitboss: Real-Time, Part-Time, Anytime" but I can't seem to find that on the trello board to see how it's coming. Any idea how far out that is?

Ah you're right! We've got big plans for hosting PitBoss games once we've finished all the general functionality we want to support for PBEM. I've added a Trello card for it here: https://trello.com/c/nWUSpCPQ/132-implement-dynamic-hosted-pitboss-games-as-a-premium-service
