Game crashing for next player after a vacationer

A couple of games I'm in are having a similar problem: The save file crashes the game for the player following someone on vacation. (So, player A is on vacation, player B downloads the save file and tries to play, but Civ5 quits rather than launching the game.)

We've tried reverting a couple of player moves back (to before the vacationing player), but it doesn't seem to help.

Any ideas about how to proceed?

Can you send me save file which crashed civ5?
I'll try to investigate cause of crash.
Also, you can try to perform turn leading to crash with my mod: http://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=540914516. This mod created for similar crash issue, may be it solves your case.

Just tried to use the PBEM leave fix, but I'm having trouble loading a multiplayer game. I might need some hand-holding. LMK if you're willing to help.

I answered about how to use Custom Advanced Setup to load game with my mod in the mod comment.
For sending save, you can use https://www.wetransfer.com/ for example. Send me link to uploaded file via private messages.

Thanks. It turns out I can't use the mods because I'm on OS X. One of our other players used the unbloater and CAS to fix a damaged file. I appreciate the help!
