What Flinko said is very important , also the trait posion breather is useful to get big potions even easier and if you want to go extreme on that take Gatherer as well

Always combine your small potions into big ones, and don't forget to cut all the grass to keep getting herbs to make more potions. Made the mistake of not doing both of these a lot when I started. Try being more patient with the enemies, you'll see most all of them have very predictable attack patterns that leave room for you to attack them. Hope this helps :)

@Demonwolf I recommend to be an archer or mage. Warrior (melee) is kinda hard.
Also take your time. Try to kill most of the enemies you see, and open every chest for bonuses I would avoid the crater and volcano biomes, as they are pretty darn hard. But especially: Have fun :D

I would recommend to play a a mage at the beginning
1.get the bug net
2.get every bug ( maybe exceots the frost ones) two times
3.lvl high up
4.dia mage armor
5.maybe get the jelly blade
6.Beat the game ! :)
