As others have mentioned, clearing your cookie data from Internet Explorer should also clear the data from Idle Master. If you launch Idle Master as an administrator, you'll need to launch Internet Explorer as an administrator to clean the cookies.

There will be an update to this behavior in the next release (soon).

The change is that every time you click on the (Sign In) button, the form will load where you enter your user name and password, but Idle Master will automatically clear any session data and delete the relevant cookies so that you'll always be presented with the login box, even if you ticked the box to have it remember your sign-in information.

Idle Master and Steam need to be running in the same user context. That is to say that if Steam is running as an administrator, Idle Master will also need to be run as an administrator. Some people launch Steam as admin because doing so fixes some older games, so that's probably the case here.

If you're getting an error message that your system can't initialize the Steam API, it means that the application is failing when the script calls "SteamAPI_Init()" which relies on the libsteam_api64.so file.

It's possible that if your Steam client isn't installed in the default location or isn't running, then it will fail this initialization check.

One thing you could try would be to place the IdleMaster files in the same directory as your Steam installation, and try launching the python script from there to see if it will properly initialize. I hope this helps!

MonkeyJug is correct - the program simply tells Steam "okay, now I'm playing this game" and Steam's servers do a check to make sure you own that game, then change your status to "in-game" and drops trading cards as if you were playing. When it's done it signals to Steam that you're finished with that game, and repeats the process for the next (and so on...)

In this way, Idle Master can idle games that haven't been installed or even games that can't be installed on your OS.

If you are watching the application, and notice that all of that game's cards have already dropped, you can simply hit the "skip to next game" button |> and Idle Master will move on to the next game in your list without the need to re-check anything.

The next version of Idle Master will make it easier to work with multiple accounts, but it won't be an automated process because you'll still need to log in to the Steam client as a different user.

To my knowledge the statement is just trolling. I would hope that if Valve chose to start banning people for using Idle Master that they would give me a heads up first so that I could inform users and take the tool offline. I've let them know that if they took any issue at all with the program that they can simply inform me as such and I will happily remove it.

The new version of Idle Master alone has had almost 75,000 downloads since it was released less than 3 weeks ago. That would be a lot of users to ban, many of them being Valve's best customers due to the nature of the application.

EDIT: I'm not saying it's impossible (because we all know how Valve communicates these sorts of things) but I'm saying it's unlikely.

@hasnieking: I'm working on a new authentication mechanism for Idle Master that should alleviate problems like this in the future. Keep an eye on this group for an announcement of the next release and it should hopefully be fixed. Thanks!
