I'm sorry that your PC (somehow) got infected, but I assure you that Idle Master is not bundled with any malware. The program is compiled directly from the freely available source code[github.com]. It's been scanned and tested by a multitude of third party vendors who have all reported that everything available from www.SteamIdleMaster.com is clean.

You may want to scan your PC using available anti-malware tools such as Malware Bytes.

There have been a lot of questions about recent changes in Idle Master so I thought I would address these questions here.

Starting with Idle Master 1.0, the program will automatically start idling multiple games at once if those games have less than 2 hours of play time. This is done to counteract changes Valve made to the card drops, presumably to prevent people from getting free cards then requesting refunds on games.

How this works: Idle Master will load your badges page then look for games that have less than 2 hours of play time. Idle Master will then idle all of these games (up to 30 at a time) until those games reach the 2 hour mark, making them become eligible for card drops. Unlike in the past, Steam doesn't care about running multiple games at once if all of those games have less than 2 hours of play time and are thus ineligible for card drops.

Once Idle Master is done idling games with less than two hours of play time, it will start idling each game one at a time just like it used to. As such, you should not expect to receive any card drops until Idle Master starts idling games one at a time. As always, Idle Master is an automation program whose goal continues to be "run the program, set it up, then let it do it's thing" which we strive to make as efficient as possible.

The reason this feature exists is because Valve changed the rules for idling. You will no longer be eligible for card drops until a game has reached 2 hours of play time. After that, cards will start dropping at normal intervals. So games that used to take 1.5 hours to idle completely will now take 3.5 hours to idle completely.

What this new feature does is gathers up a list (of up to 30, the max that will be recorded) games at once with less than 2 hours of play time, and idles them up to that point so that all 30 of those games would then be eligible for card drops. Once that process is complete, Idle Master will go back to idling each game one at a time until each one has all available card drops.

For every 30 games Idle Master idles in this way, it saves you 58 hours vs. idling them individually. If you have hundreds of games with card drops, this new feature could potentially save you weeks/months.

I've just pushed a small update that should fix the issue with some of the new features not working correctly. You can manually update using the same procedure described in the main announcement. I've also updated the portable version on the site to 1.0.1. Thanks everyone for your patience.

I'd say that your logic is a bit false, in that most people are not writing in the forums here saying "It worked great for me, I had zero problems whatsoever." and this discussion board is typically used for support inquiries when something goes wrong in the process. To put things in perspective, the newest version of Idle Master has received over 250,000 downloads from the website. There are only 8,192 members (currently) of this group. I'd wager that the vast majority of users experience little to no problems with Idle Master.

As for the program's safety - the current application was released in December 2014 (approximately 7 months ago) and to my knowledge hasn't been directly responsible for anyone getting in trouble. I recommend not running other games while Idle Master is running, especially those with VAC-secured servers just to err on the side of caution. The program itself is open source ( https://github.com/jshackles/idle_master ) so even if you're not able to read the code yourself you can be confident in knowing that it's been gone over thoroughly by others. Finally, Idle Master recently received Softpedia's "100% clean" rating, which you can view here ( http://games.softpedia.com/get/Tools/Idle-Master.shtml ).

For what it's worth, I'm currently evaluating aLex's changes to be included in the main build of Idle Master. So far I haven't found anything that should cause anyone alarm.

Hey, noticed a couple of bugs in the script:

1: has_playtime should be looking for "hrs on record" instead of "([0-1]\.[0-9]) hrs on record", the second one will assume that anything out of that regex has no playtime, which causes games with more than 2 hours to become added to the queue

2: if playtime < 2, I had to cast playtime to a float in order for it to properly do comparisons, this'll fix the bug that everyone's reporting where only unplayed games get idled

Thanks! I've tested these suggestions and they appear to be working. I've updated the application on Github so if you're running into these issues be sure to download the latest version.

I've made some updates that should correct these issues. You can download the update from the link above.

Idle Master Helper is a small program that will idle all of the games you have which are eligible for card drops and have less than 2 hours of play time. This is done in batches of 25 games at once, and will idle them for 2 hours each. So for example if you have 300 games that are eligible for card drops and have less than 2 hours of play time, it will take 24 hours to idle them up to 2 hours each.

Once this process is completed, you can run Idle Master normally and should receive card drops much faster than waiting two additional hours each.
