Not at all. Although, if you care you can just pick up the source code and use it as a basic template.
Another way of doing it is setting some launch options for the game, which will make the window not open, the game however will still run.

IM is logged into a "browser" account and not the actual client I suppose, but it seems like we could trick it to do that somehow can't we?

I think IM is still connected to the steam program. (Check source code, perhaps)
Updated the questions after testing it by myself. And no, i didnt recieve any cards aswell (3 hrs)

Okay, so reading through these threads i realized that the the questions are always the same, and since we found answers to all of those, i collected them here:

It just doesnt work, i cant login (etc.)!
Please uninstall Idle Master, then update Java and reinstall Idle Master when done. also, make sure Steam is running!

It says "Idling complete", but it hasn't actually idled anything?!
Yes, that is because you have no games to idle left. Idle Master checks for remaining Card drops, those can be seen on your badges page. Basically, to get more avaiable card drops, buy new games which include cards or buy things ingame and fill the "bar" to get eligible for one card.

What about the "use cookies to login" thingy they mention?
Apparently, it is a safer(?) way to login. But using your cookies is litterally the same thing, since they include all used passwords. Since IM is an open-source program, you can be assured it wont actually take anything but your steam password, but its overall too much work compared to just entering your pw.

Will i need to have the games installed i want to idle?
No, but you need to have them atleast in you library.

May i use a steam-crack in which i can get all steam games for free?
1. Dont use those, they are illegal!
2. No, since they are not actually getting you any legit cards, it would be useless idling for free stuff.

May i run IM on a different account than the one i am logged into steam with?
Sadly, that does not work (Found out after Testing by "TITIMOSQUITO187" and me)

The playtime stays on zero hours. Why?
For some unknown reason, the counter sometimes stays on zero during an idle session. It can be ignored, aslong as you still collect cards. (If not, try to fix the issue using the answers above!)

I played on a VAC protected sever (Tf2/CSGO/...)! Will i be banned?
I actually took the risk of trying it out some time ago (about 2 months ago to be exact)
And - as you can see - i'm not vac banned! If i would be, i could just ask the support because the IM doesnt break any 'rules' set by steam.
Maybe you dont want to idle TF2 while actually playing it, but as it seems idling while playing on VAC servers doesnt get you a game or vac ban.
You might want to google "Vac banned for using idle master" and you will see there are no confirmed vac bans. Thanks to multiple users for this idea.

Can i run IM without the Steam client?
No. No steam game can run without the client, except games which have their own run file in the game folder. But for IM to see your badges (to idle the specific games), Steam must be running.
