Yeah, up to now I did it just 'cause I found it amusing. Now that I'm getting so many cards, it's becoming enough work that my brain is like, "OK, now we have to justify this behaviour". :)

Cool. I just thought of another data point that you may or may not find interesting. When I came back and saw it hung on 0:00 and clicked the "1 drop remaining" refresh link, it did not in fact refresh. I had to pause and unpause first. Just FYI, in case it helps with the troubleshooting.

Ever since I started getting trading cards, I've been maintaining a local file with all of them listed out...just seemed like it might come in handy for searching. However, over time, it started to occur to me that there was literally nothing I could do with my local copy that I couldn't do just as well or better with Steam's own display interface. Still, I kept doing it because I didn't get new cards that often and being all organizey about it made me happy.

However, IdleMaster has ruined everything! :D Now I'm getting cards by the truckload and keeping that list up to date is actually kinda a pain. So, I mean, this question isn't technically on topic here per se, but where am I going to find better experts on this subject?

Can any of y'all think of a reason to have a local list/database of all your cards, that would benefit you (or a trading/gifting partner) in any way that you couldn't do with Steam's own interface?

I guess maybe some people might consider this unethical in some way, so if you don't wanna do it then that's cool, but...how about idling any game that doesn't have at least five minutes' play time until it does? That way Steam wouldn't keep you from doing a review for a game you haven't played (on Steam) enough for its liking.

I know this is going to be a pretty useless report, but I'm honestly not sure how to provide useful information. All I can say is that the two times I've left IM running for an extended period (12+ hours) it goes through a few games (8 the first time, 7 the second time) and then gets "stuck" somehow. The program is still running, but when I come back to it the countdown timer is just sitting on 0:00 and it never checks again. If I pause and un-pause it picks back up (it started the timer over both times, obviously after 7 hours or so of idling a game it had all the cards, so I did the "re-check now" function and it checked in and subsequently switched to the next game as expected).

Obviously not a catastrophe, it's still chewing through this stuff way faster than I would by hand and after all they're just trading cards...but I figured it was worth bringing up. :)

On a side note, I have hundreds of cards left to farm so if there's something I can try, I've got quite a few times left that I'll be running it for hours at a stretch. heh
