I'm actually seriously considering making S3 a set of tutorials explaining how to make a single player survival FPS and cutting out multiplayer so that absolute beginners can follow along and understand what's going on. In a much later chapter I might show how to integrate multiplayer. I'm also waiting for Unity to progress the development of UNET some more so that it becomes better suited to FPS games.

S3 would cover other topics like mecanim animation setup for the weapon and zombies, ammo and health pickups, sound, making terrain, camera effects, lightmapping, pausing the game, etc., so basically lots of simple stuff that beginners need to know.

I wasn't planning to have S3 on the Asset Store because it means that I'd have to keep the project up to date with each major Unity iteration, which isn't easy since then I'd have to redo the video tutorials.

Thanks, then I will start with a single player project and in a later chapter add on multiplayer. No I can't imagine charging more than $15. It would almost cetainly be less than $10 while I only have the first chapter or two released.

Honestly it's way too early for me to say much on that. First of all I need to make S3 and make sure it is a quality learning package. It may well be free on YouTube and be here on Steam for those who want the project folders or to support me. Anyway I still have much to do to make an S3.

Actually I'd like to ask you a question. Can I make the first few chapters of S3 single player? So a single player FPS where the player is getting attacked by zombies. Then in much later chapters I can show how to build a multiplayer game especially since UNET is still maturing.

Hello, The UNET multiplayer system is completely different to the system covered in the S1 and S2 tutorials, so basically those tutorials are no good for Unity 5.1 onwards.

Check out Unity's own tutorials on their website. They've pretty much covered all the topics for learning how to use the engine and they have quite a few projects. For a 2D platformer game I'm pretty sure Brackey's has tutorials on that.

By the end of the current stream of UNET tutorials I'll know whether I should go with Photon or UNET. I'm also waiting to see the pricing structure for Unity's matchmaking service. The end result of my UNET tutorials should be an absolutely basic co-op survival type game with primitive enemy AI being controlled by the server. I think with that amount accomplished it will be very clear how user friendly the new multiplayer system is.

I think you mean that you can see a cursor on the screen. When you move it to the edge of the screen your ship for example constantly turns in that direction until you bring the cursor back to the center of the screen.
