It's a pretty complex issue, the path to legalization. Lots of things standing in the way of that transition. Obviously, in the end it would probably be for the good of everyone. But infrastructure for production, distribution, quality control, and retail would have to be an incredibly immense undertaking. Also, the criminal element would still have to somehow be dealt with, so that those sales would not steal from the legitimate establishments.

Biggest obstacle I see, after all the laws that get removed, rewritten, or newly written, is a sharp climb in black market sales. Illegal grow ops have far less overhead than a certified, or government-run grower would. Rent, more employees, administration, taxes, higher standards, inspections (of product and facility). Legit weed would just be much more expensive to produce, and would consequently cost more for the buyer.

Long-term, I think the change would eventually show some economic benefits, but it would be a difficult transition.

Some people say that weed is illegal for the children, the only thing i have to say about that is (its not the weeds falt) its the bad parenting .....
Phantom Six 2011 年 8 月 28 日 上午 9:33
yea, if they make profit out of the weed (which they will because a lot of people would buy it), the economy wouldn't be so ♥♥♥♥ up. ♥♥♥♥, if the economy ever get worse n worse, i wonder when's the chance of seeing a riot? Weed being legalized would be an excellent economy saver. The druglords have the profits at hands right now...
BraBBit*™® 2011 年 8 月 28 日 上午 7:26
The thing is ,is they have to legilize it in a way thats basicly the same as they treat alchol now if they can do that Then the economy may have a chance , were basicly up ♥♥♥♥ creck with out a paddle atm Lol

If weed was legalized, our economy would be fix... ffs, what r these stupid politicians thinking about illegalizing it. PROHIBITION = BAD. Look at what happen when beer was illegal. Mafias boot leggers be going everywhere. Now look at weed illegal, drug dealers everywhere and drug cartels all over Mexico too. They only got power cuz ppl will buy their smuggled weed cuz its illegal, if its legal, then they might as well go to retails stores where its safer.
