Limiting quirk selection by class
Anyone have any ideas on this?

There are a lot of buffs that aren't used as quirks in the base game (things like +healing or +bleed chance), probably because they'd be meaningless on a lot of classes which don't have the relevant skills. That said, in a few cases they do still happen, like 'Torn Rotator' on an arbalest does absolutely nothing, because the arbalest has no melee skills, but creating more potentially meaningless quirks is a step backwards. I'd like to look at adding skill specific quirks, but to avoid bloating the number of pointless quirks massively, I need to restrict certain quirks to certain classes.

As far as I can tell 'class' isn't a recognised attribute, it just sets parameters at character creation, so initially this looked impossible. However, because quirks can have their incompatibilities tailored, a possible work around might be to give every class a specific, unremovable class quirk at character creation, and then tailor the incompatibilities around that.

I can't see how, or if it's even possible, to add specific quirks to the generation information for each hero type. It's clear how to alter the minimum and maximum number of positives and negatives they start with, but can it be tailored more precisely?

Am I looking in the wrong place? Am I trying to do something impossible? Am I missing something obvious?

It is possible. You are looking in the wrong place, it has less to do with generation, more with somehow setting up an incompatibility. The Flagellant implements this very nicely
"quirk_modifier: .incompatible_class_ids alcoholism gambler love_interest" and it goes on. It's a bit more tedious, you just have to make your quirk incompatible with all classes except the one you want. Hope that was understandable.
