Gimmick or not, it is an overspecialized weapon that only caters to one of the many demo playstyles and it severly underutilized within the server. I've already mentioned how charging after sticky jumping is hazardous and generally inferior to a demoknight with a shield with ANY melee, so it sould be improved to make it a viable choice.

Plus the stat changes suggested by Eternal make a better sticky jumping weapon with Crits while airborn. I would use it much more frequently if it had some more power and justification behind it like that, making it's risk rewarding.

So what this weapon allows is a longer sticky jump? I'm pretty sure that the two sticky limit of the Jumper easily fufills and jumper's need, and doesn't fill the role as a utility for travel. Even with the Long Knife, even without a shield it allows a speedboost on kill, making it just as attune to escape as it is to charging AND killing.
Again, I disagree that the weapon is "overspecialized" as not only is it a melee weapon, its primary use is with the Demoman's default gear. For sure it's definitely a risky, and even sub-optimal equip at the moment, but as I said I don't think it's a problem that can't be fixed. However, I still stand by that the weapon doesn't need to be totally re-worked. I'm not quite sure at the moment what direction would be best for it but there's definitely a better way to fix the weapon then turn it into a Demoman's Market Gardener.
Well the brute force already crits while airborn so the marlet gardening demo is already a thing but its doest fit a sword that gives you damage vulnerability while active and tou have to take damage from sticky jumps. I suggested that it would crit while airborn because it already is a weapon based on sticky jumping unlike the brute force
