Adding a Systemrequirements checker for all the games on Steam
On all the shop pages, Steam could add checkmarks to see, if the games can run on the PC or on the Steam Deck or VR.

I saw Microsoft Store for example did it. How about Steam?

would be nice, and i also have asked for something related to that: improved search results by including requirements, but i think steam hasnt implemented it yet, because they would need to scan and confirm with each dev the data.

only after doing that, what you ask (and having the option to search by specs) would be possible. i doubt they will do it soon, but maybe with help of ai bots, they could scan and categorise all minimum and suggested requirements, and maybe then allow later users to fine tune them according to their own experiences (ie voting to confirm if those specs work or not)

+1 this is a good idea, it will make the process of finding games much easier

Or, you could base it on the min and max specs the devs put out. There already on the store page.

Then, you have a new section in the Settings called 'Hardware Data' that you can chose to turn off or on. The local side of Steam send that info to the store when doing searches, and whies it aganst the Rec hardware, based on age.

This would atleast give you some idea of if it will work or not.

The best way to implement this would be to first enter your system specs into your profile page. For the most part this info would be private unless you want "How's My Rig" bragging rights. This info would be automatically checked against the games posted minimum and recommended system requirements with a "Meets" green star or a "Does Not Meet" red star next to each system line.

you know you can just check what your system specs are in Help > System Information at the top left corner of the Steam client right? people can easily lie or not be sure what their specs are if they're gonna write it down in their profile, and also implementing such an invasive feature isn't something Valve would do. i wouldn't even be surprised if they copy what UBM does, and just have a bias for Intel CPUs and Nvidia GPUs.

and also many games get constantly updated but their official system requirements do not, so it's not entirely accurate for those; not to mention that people will have different variants of the same hardware that can perform wildly different. i'm not even just referring to laptop vs desktop, or the different laptop variants based on TDP, clock speed, and sometimes even VRAM; there might also be special edition specs that perform differently too (i.e., Liquid Cooling or Founder's Edition).

i haven't even gotten into silicon lottery and custom user configurations like overclocking, undervolting, de-lidding, bottlenecks, translation layers, etc btw as that further complicates the performance of one's rig. i highly doubt that whoever integrates that into Steam is gonna consider these factors; they're just gonna take the path of least resistance, and base the results on synthetic benchmarks and official specs as that's cheaper and easier. finally gotta consider games that aren't well optimized due to developer incompetence and/or the tech not utilizing newer/more hardware resources.
