I never had any issues with steam game recording, however a few weeks ago I clipped something from a game and a couple days later went to check the recording only to find out the audio was completely unbearable, loud and distorted. This affects all games.

This whole thing started around 2 weeks ago. I have older clips saved from 5 weeks ago and older that are still just fine, so it's pretty clear that this issue only begun after a certain time around 2 weeks ago.

My mic sounds normal on discord and other applications that use it.

What I tried so far:
- Disabled mic
- Unplugged then replugged the mic
- Checked for any sound enhancing features from Windows' side and Steam's side (there are none)
- Selected "record game audio only"
- Re-installed Steam
- Disabled Nvidia's recording function (always used both at the same time and never had an issue)

Nothing worked. I can't find help about this specific thing anywhere on the internet.

Other recording software that I use to record games out of steam work just fine as usual. The issue is within steam itself somehow, my suspicion is that some update broke the client somehow.

Update: To fix this go to your steam settings and activate steam beta. It will download files, restart your client and should be back to normal. Afterwards you can disable the beta version and should still be fixed.
