Shutting down steam window is annoying
If you exit steam by clicking Exit from the tray icon menu it will open Steam and bring it to the forefront to display a message for several seconds saying that it is shutting down.

When you are closing steam from the tray icon - especially if the app is not open on the desktop and already at the forefront - it should not open Steam to tell you that it's closing steam.

It's fine to show that message if Steam is already open, at the forefront and the user exits from the drop down menu within Steam (top left corner).

If you don't have it open and you exit from the tray icon it should just quietly close steam in the background. It's bad design to force open and force to the forefront a program that the user is trying to exit from the tray.

Can't even select Exit from the right click tray on my system. It's too far down under a list of games I can't disable.

Second ! , there really should be a toggle or only a very small popup @ very least, now the entire steam window opens up just to close .... not really logical

its not just me!!! Omg. If i right click close out of my system tray it means i want to close, yes, What kills me is it asks with the only option being cancel. YES I AM SURE!

I agree, please remove the window. it is simply annoying and doesnt help anyone.

100% agree, remove the damn "shutting down steam" nonsense. Make the "clean up" in the background, dont waste the users time with that popup.

It is just ridiculous, that Valve doesn't hire some programmers who can progam. Steam is one of the most used software on the planet, Vale earning BILLIONS, yet it is so badly designed and programmed. How is that even possible? One answer: Greed. Immense, never ending greed. Mostly of one person on the top level of Valve.

Valve just became rich by pure luck and monopoly, yet they dont use any of their money investing into the users who made them rich. HL3 btw.

Every company reaches this point as it grows and as long as they keep getting rewarded for it, they’re not going to change.

welcome too the new and improved SPAM stream client. GIGANTIC popup to say it is shutting down, massive popup every time you launch a game.. cant wait for valve to force BigScreen on us.

It’s piss poor programming and bad design. The ‘shutting down’ window steals focus, the ‘Cancel’ button doesn’t work and the ‘x’ close closes the dialog but shutdown still occurs.
I have contacted Steam support, but of course nobody at Steam will acknowledge that this is an unrequested, poorly implemented ‘feature’ so it won’t ever be considered a bug or be fixed.

I would love to have this removed. Sometimes I need to exit steam very fast and very incognito, and can't risk having that pop up

This isn't a programming problem. This is a UI/UX problem. And the problem is probably being worked on by a programmer instead of a UI/UX person. And that's the real problem.

I feel the same way, you're going through your system tray icons, closing things to free up memory, and then BAM! Fullscreen steam window pops up just to say its closing again.
