I currently have 5 family members. I sent an invite to a 6th person, but they never accepted it. In an attempt to help them troubleshoot, I canceled the pending invite. After doing so, Steam now displays that the slot is on cooldown until 2026, even though the invite was never accepted and that person was never a member of the family.

According to Steam Support, past members can always rejoin without waiting. Since this person cannot be re-added, it confirms they were never actually a member. A canceled pending invite should not trigger the one-year cooldown, as no slot was occupied and no family activity ever occurred.

This seems like the system is incorrectly treating a canceled pending invite as a full membership removal, leaving me with only 5 usable slots instead of 6.

Please escalate this as a bug, because it leaves the feature in a broken state for my account.
