Hi Steam team,
I’m suggesting a few enhancements to Big Picture Mode that would make Steam more seamless and intuitive for controller-first setups—especially for handheld PCs and HTPC environments:
• Option to Disable Startup Movie
Please add a toggle to disable the Big Picture startup animation. It doesn’t always suit controller-only workflows and can slow down the launch experience unnecessarily.
• Minimized Startup Behavior
Allow Big Picture Mode to launch minimized to the system tray at Windows startup, while remaining active in the background. This would preserve controller input without forcing the full UI to appear immediately.
• Controller-Only Navigation Mode for Desktop Client
Introduce a stripped-down controller mode for the standard Steam client (outside Big Picture), enabling:
• Navigation via analog stick/D-pad to essential interface elements
• Button-mapped actions for key functions like launching, installing, and updating games
These changes would make Steam far more accessible and resilient for users who rely exclusively on game controllers. Thanks for considering!
