edit: you can disable them from here by unchecking the "I receive Steam Community Awards.", or otherwise simply opt out of all marketing emails

Well, I've just tested the unchecking of "I receive Steam Community Awards" and it may work for receiving, but certainly not for giving awards.
That option is missing.
I think it'd be good to ask support to create one, if enough ppl ask for it, it might just get done.
Thank you to Strask for suggesting using a filter to prevent these emails from hitting my inbox, I hadn’t thought of this but it is indeed very easy to do.
Now for the rant I came here to write.
This has got to be the dumbest email notification I’ve ever seen. Any time you give an award in the forums, seconds later you get an email saying “You’ve given a comment award!”, with nothing else in it but steam and valve logos and links to their Twitter.
Why in the world is this a thing?
You can opt out of notification when you receive an award, but not when you give one.
I mean I know when I’ve given an award for god’s sake, I did it myself.
This is as useful as sending me an email every time I comment in the forums.
But they don’t do that do they? Of course not, because that would be dumb and insane.
Yet here we are, getting an email every time you give an award.
I hope everyone at Steam knows how annoying this is. Foisting unnecessary and and pointless emails on users is nothing but irritating.
Anyway, cheers Strask for the easy work around. Even if it’s ridiculous I have to have a work around for this in the first place.
I mean, that is the intended outcome, right?
Still stupid i can't turn it off.
I think I don't get emails when I spend points in the Points Shop, so it probably isn't that.
Though, if you're right, they should at least add an option to just get a combined email at the end of a week you've used points in with a list of everything the points were used for during the week.
