How to disable "You have given x an award" emails?
Every time I give a review, screenshot, guide or anything an award, I get an email for each one sent which is really bugging me. I tried setting the email preferences to not send me emails when I receive an award, but I still get emails for when I've sent a single reward. Is there any way to disable this?

There is no opt out. You will always receive an email for awarding.

that is so stupid and annoying - and very helpful of you to explain, I was searching for how to turn this of 10 minutes already - so here's another irritating email for me and one for you!

Many email providers allow you to set up filters to sort and process incoming mail. You could easily filter on things from steam with certain subject lines to trash these automatically.

it is strange how you cannot disable those emails, i am not really active for videogames anymore but i get occassionaly those random emails

edit: you can disable them from here by unchecking the "I receive Steam Community Awards.", or otherwise simply opt out of all marketing emails

Well, I've just tested the unchecking of "I receive Steam Community Awards" and it may work for receiving, but certainly not for giving awards.

That option is missing.

I think it'd be good to ask support to create one, if enough ppl ask for it, it might just get done.

Is this seriously still not an option in 2022?

Thank you to Strask for suggesting using a filter to prevent these emails from hitting my inbox, I hadn’t thought of this but it is indeed very easy to do.

Now for the rant I came here to write.

This has got to be the dumbest email notification I’ve ever seen. Any time you give an award in the forums, seconds later you get an email saying “You’ve given a comment award!”, with nothing else in it but steam and valve logos and links to their Twitter.

Why in the world is this a thing?
You can opt out of notification when you receive an award, but not when you give one.
I mean I know when I’ve given an award for god’s sake, I did it myself.
This is as useful as sending me an email every time I comment in the forums.
But they don’t do that do they? Of course not, because that would be dumb and insane.
Yet here we are, getting an email every time you give an award.

I hope everyone at Steam knows how annoying this is. Foisting unnecessary and and pointless emails on users is nothing but irritating.

Anyway, cheers Strask for the easy work around. Even if it’s ridiculous I have to have a work around for this in the first place.

Didn't realise you could opt out of reward receive emails. My guess is the reason they tell you is so if you didn't do it you're warned, but at that point I'd be more worried about my account than my points.

Cheers back, and for the record I'm 100% in agreement with you; valve should give us an opt out for this one.

Well then I shall never give another award again.

I mean, that is the intended outcome, right?
Coldsteak 2022 年 10 月 1 日 下午 7:58
absolute BS that there isn't an opt out

Yes you cant disable it. You have to set up a custom filter in your email so that those emails from Steam go straight to trash and thus cause no notification

Is there a f@ point of this email? I mean, I KNOW I've just awarded someone!
Lilbabycat 2022 年 11 月 27 日 上午 9:07
I believe the argument they might have is that points carry a theoretical real $ value and therefore they need to inform customer in case it was due to malicious activity.
Still stupid i can't turn it off.

I think I don't get emails when I spend points in the Points Shop, so it probably isn't that.
Though, if you're right, they should at least add an option to just get a combined email at the end of a week you've used points in with a list of everything the points were used for during the week.
