EDIT:
what OS are you on ?
because thought just hit me if its windows i see most say they got enterprise 11.
many of the issues i see people have i dont even have them. but i do have a few others do not seem to have. so my thought is if its the windows version as i am win11 pro. not enterprise. just a thought that hit me just now.
Yeah, I tested multiple accounts on the same PC — only my main account has this issue.
Fresh install works once, but after restarting Steam it breaks again. Seems like something on the account side (chat data or sync state) gets stuck.
That’s an interesting point — I’ve also noticed a few people with Enterprise builds having similar issues. Could be something with how Steam Chat’s web components interact with the OS sandbox or permissions.
Still, in my case it’s weird because it only happens on one Steam account, while other accounts on the same system work fine. So maybe it’s a mix of both — OS + account sync state.
Yeah, that actually makes sense — it could’ve started right after that combination of updates.
I noticed the issue appeared right after the last Steam maintenance, so maybe something changed on the chat backend, and now it doesn’t sync properly with certain system setups (like Enterprise or specific Windows builds).
Hopefully Valve can check if there’s any mismatch between local chat cache and account data after login — that seems to fit the pattern so far.
