October 15th update reset some client cookies/preferences.
Just got yesterdays update for the client and my settings for autoplay trailers in the store are turned on again.

My setting to have 50 posts/threads on the forums was reset back to 15 per page.

I'm still trying to figure out what other ones were reset.

I just noticed the client booted up in a very small window, about half the size I normally have it stretched out to.

UI scaling was off due to this as well. I was 3 ticks to the right of the default. I moved it to default and back to 3 ticks right to fix it.

My library games list (left column) window size was reset back to default. I had to move it back wider to where I had it before.

The checkbox to subscribe to a discussion was unchecked.

Basically all settings that are saved inside the Chromium browser cache at

%localappdata%\Steam\htmlcache

There seems to have been a restructuring of that folder (because of a new Chromium version?) and the previous cache was not migrated at all.

I recommend deleting that folder and restarting Steam to get rid of outdated files.

And yes, this is exactly the same browser cache you can (partially) delete from
Settings > In Game > Delete Web Browser Data
(In case you were curious.)

Also, other settings that have been reset:
- the filter settings for the News Hub (Store > News > Options and Filters)
- currently set wishlist settings / filters
- all in-game overlays have been reset to their default positions

Every time steam updates (stable client), I go through page by page and verify settings because of how often they reset things ... really pisses me off when they reactivate steam cloud and turn every notification back on.

Most settings are saved in the localconfig.vdf / sharedconfig.vdf / config.vdf files, so unless you delete them yourself, nothing should change them.

I agree, nothing should change them ... still happens though.
