it says portal 2/left 4 dead 2, etc. is not installed correctly or not installed
so im trying to compile vpks, but i need to use the version thats compatible with csgo alpha build 10040, so l4d2 and portal 2 have those versions i need, but thing is, when i try to use portal 2's vpk.exe, it crashes, so i found this tool and thought it could help, but its telling me my game isnt installed correctly, please if anyone could help, itd be amazing

Hey so the tool has a very major flaw. When I originally wrote it I had only one hard drive, so it only checks your primary steam install. So if it is not installed in your primary steam folder it will not see it.

That said all this tool does is run the vpk.exe with parameters. You can easily do the same exact thing by running vpk.exe using PowerShell https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/VPK#Commands
