Nox's & RayZ Team Tournament #1 - December 10th 2016
Welcome to the first Team Tournament ever to hit the community, based on Noxicks original post, and my updated rules.
Rules will be the same as Epona's (as per usual) but will contain a few tweaks and extras added by me in order to fit the new tourney mode and todays tournaments.

In the Team Tournament, for the first time, your driving alone won't determine your position at the tourney.
You're going to have a teammate, and it's gonna be the driving skills of you both to determine your position on that tourney.
This way, instead of using tricks and "techniques" alone, you will do so as a team - and many things can be done as a team in order to score.

The tournament will be held on Saturday, at December 10th, 7PM UK Timezone.

Sign ups are below. please comment to sign up as a single one.
You will be teamed to another player based on your skills by me and the moderators.
  • Teaming will be done in balance. it means that if X is a very skilled player, he will be teamed to Y in order to create a balanced team.
  • While understanding that, you can offer a teammate and we will consider (this is not guaranteed)
  • Your teammate will be announced on the beginning of the tourney date (10th, 1 AM UK Timezone) - to let you chat and plan a bit!

Rules

The position of each team will be determined by the combined points of the two.
Example: Team A: Player 1 scored 78 points, and Player 2 scored 34 points, Team B: Player 1 scored 47 points and Player 2 scored 88 points. the position is: 1st Team B (135 combined points) and 2nd Team A (112 combined points).

All 20 normal tracks will be played in completely random order.

  • First round will be 10 tracks.
  • Finals will be 10 tracks.

Qualifications for the Finals

2 Lobbies = Top 5 teams (higher points) from both lobbies
  • Top 2 Teams for each lobby + the 3rd team with the higher points of the two lobbies.
3 Lobbies = Top 4 teams from the 3 lobbies + the remaning Team with the highest points of the three lobbies
  • Top 2 Teams for each lobby + the remaning team with the higher points of the 3 lobbies.
Total of 10 players and 5 teams for the finals.
  • Any possible tie will be determined by a tie-breaker run.

1. Tournaments generally last around 2 hours and 30 minutes on average. Please note that any more rounds would extend it by quite a bit.
Please note that, in my experience, the tournament can be difficult and slow to start up, as many people (since we come from all over) live in different timezones and many not show up quite on time - I ask that all participants try their best to be patient and understanding as we begin to set up the tournament, and do your best to show up 15-30 minutes ahead of time to expedite the process. But once we get going, it should go quite smoothly.

2. The host of the lobby will start the next race as soon as everyone has picked a character, or else the maximum waiting time is 5 mins. If for some reason you are not ready, please leave your character on random and/or mention it in the group chat. These 5 minutes will also be used in case someone disconnected to give them time to rejoin the lobby. in any case, when everyone states that they are ready to start ("r" \ "ready"), the race will start without any delay.

4. Hosts of the lobbies have the responsibility to take screenshots of the results after every race, in case some will get disconnected mid-race.

5. In case when someone get disconnected mid-race or has to go, they will be awarded the points earned by their respective bot. lost past score later will be recalculated with the current points and the player's bot results, using the screenshots. however, if 5 or more players experience a network error / crash (or if the lobby players agrees by consensus), the race can be restarted (even if already completed - in this case, the points of previous race will be disregarded, and only points from re-race will count).

6. Sign up deadline is TWO (2) hours before the tournament begins.
* If you sign up after that, you are NOT guaranteed a spot unless someone doesn't show up.

6. Be ready to deal with an aggressive S-Class A.I. they are way more stronger than their offline quivalent, using fast acceleration and free boosts in order to catch up with the skilled players. their scores do not count but their driving/items will SURELY affect the outcome of the races!

7. Steam chat will be used to communicate. If you're not available in Steam the host will assume you're not present.

8. If you're not in the Steam group chat, for whatever reason, the host will assume you're not ready if your character is on random. but if you already picked a character, the race will start after 5 minutes, maximum.

9. If enough hosts are willing to, there will be a room for those who did not advance to finals. That is so that everyone can be ranked in the tournament, or else only the finalists will be.

10. Be polite to others - nothing more, nothing less. things such as bumps, lag bumps, glitches and yes, falling cakes can happen which can dictate the outcome of the race. Incidents like these are difficult to avoid, so please be prepared for this.

11. We are on this event for nothing less than having fun. thus, any hate behaviour against any other character\s or any other Inappropriate behaviour WILL NOT be tolerated, and could question your continuation on the tourney.

12. Those in charge of the tournament are allowed to disqualify a player signup in case that their pressence could bug the others, or being problematic in their eyes - by fair reasons.

13. Additionally, I know how frustrating and furious it is to fail a race, by any circumstance. but take a deep breath, remember that it's just a game (and sport!) and keep the tourney's chat clean. nobody likes to see others whining, and ANYBODY, regardless to their skill, can fail a race in a drastic way.

14. We are trying to avoid any drama. any fights between people or groups of people will be held properlly: both must be in seperate lobbies, and if both make it to the finals, one must NOT mention the other in ANY way. failure to do so will result in that person or group being disqualified from the tournament. No warnings will be given.

15. Most important - have fun!

Tiebreaker track: Outrun Bay

Since there was some questions and missunderstanding we add the solutions for a tiebreaker!

If there is a tie those rules will come in use!

Rules for the QUALIFIER ROUND:

- Top 2 teams with highest scores qualify. In case of tie, the following rules apply:

a) look at individual score of each of the 4 players of the 2 teams. Let the team with the highest individual score qualify (easy to see as the game already computes this)

b) if after a) there is still a tie, count the # of 1st places for the tied teams. let the team with most 1st places qualify. if # of 1st places is also tied, count # of 2nd places, and then # of 3rd places, etc until tie is broken.

Rules for the TIEBREAKER ROUND:

Tie breaker round is won if:
a) your team has highest points
b) in case of tie, your team has the first car to cross finish.

Good luck everyone! we really hope this goes well to plan.
Thanks Garf for helping along the way with this, and thank you Adam for letting this be allowed in. :)
