Considering getting the top-end steam headset this year, but I only have found a couple of big killer apps for it, and I didn't want to outlay $1500 just to play a single game.

Guess it depends on your gaming passion. I have know racing and flight sim guys to drop $4000 and $5000 on rigs just to play one or two games

I would suggest looking into a more affordable option first. You can get a Windows Mixed Reality HMD for a couple hundred bucks and if it is something that you enjoy, then sink $1500 into higher end gear. Maybe that is just me, but VR seems to be hit or miss with a lot of people and it just makes more sense to dip your toes in before cannonballing into the pool.


I personally enjoy it. You can definitely see the massive advancements being made as the technology progresses. Weather it is just using the HMD to look around for the immersion factor in games like Elite Dangerous or full on motion controlled interactive games, there is a wide variety out there to experience. They also suffer from the same problems as any other type of games though. Some are amazing experiences, some are trash.
