I can never hope to fully replace the Rust for Gentlemen server, but I would like to toss my hat into the ring regardless. I'm setting up a replacement whitelisted server for people to play on; US-East (Atlanta, Georgia), 100 slot, and a few more non-game changing addons added to the mix.

good news and bad news

As most of you know the server had been unstable for the past week on several different occasions and there is no one to blame for the instability besides our previous server provider HFBServers. They were vulnerable to DDOS attacks because they lacked the willingness to make updates to their security, the FTP was down constantly, problems with OXIDE. That being said we can all agree that HFBServers was well.. garbage. On to the point now: You may already know our new server finally came up yesterday which is hosted by PlayRust.eu, and as it came up a poll was initiated by me to vote on the fate of the server:

WIpe or Not to wipe.

Looking at the VERY close numbers wipe won, and there are some people that will be VERY upset about this decision.

Since it was so close I was almost tempted to keep the old backups of the server files, but when I logged into HFBServers today to see their FTP was STILL down I immediately sent them a very "angry" ticket. In turn our journey with HFBServers has finally come to an end and I have been provided a refund for their "service."

Server will be whitelisted sometime today to keep hackers out. I will make a seperate announcement for the people that want to be whitelisted to register themselves on, and I will manually add those players so they can play on a well-managed server.

In the end, I cannot make everyone happy so I say stay or go it's up to you my condolences to the ones that lost their progress from the previous servers and to them I say blame HFBServers.

TL;DR: HFBServers gone, Playrust.eu in. No backups were kept. The server will be whitelisted today, and wiped.

Perfect timing for new patch. A fresh beginning.
