final date for server shutdown

the server will be officially shutting down on wednesday the sixth of january.

technically of course, this makes no difference as nobody can join it (lack of updating) but its nice to share.

you'll all be able to get your adv dup files from me directly if you want them. just message me and provide your SteamID and tell me how you want the files delivered...I don't do mailorder :P

filefront or whatever is probably easiest. they have a nice anonymous file posting system where I can provide you with the URL and you can just retrieve them. no fuss, and its private.

Server Closing down

ok then all, the server just payed for the next month's up-time.

from now on, you're on your own. you want the server to stay up, you donate.

-nobody- has been on the server in the past couple months. including me.

so if you want your stuff, either you grab it from the server in the next month, or you come badger me afterwards. I'll take a backup of the adv dup directory before the server goes down. just for you guys.

New IPs

ok guys and gals

we have two IPs at the moment, two functionally identical servers.

I don't recall which one is shutting down in the next few days, but one of them is, never fear though, the files are staying with them.

anyway, our two IPs atm are:

83.222.235.179:27016

94.76.195.49:27016

again, both are identical. one of them is closing down fairly shortly. this is because the hosts decided to switch us to a different server. so they've set up the new one, but not yet closed down the old one.

server moving

apparently Art Of War Central has decided to move the server to another facility or similar, consequently we're getting a new IP, but hopefully it'll all run better afterwards. in the meantime, we should be back in action within a day or so...at the latest the 30th of september.

ok, I'm back to paying for the server, since I and a number of others play on the server quite often. if anyone wants to help out by donating, then it'll take the load off my bank accounts a bit. link is above, creating an account is free and easy. you don't have to do anything regular, just a one-off payment with paypal or something will be fine. basically, I pay $21 or so a month so that you guys can play here.

money from the donation system goes straight into an account controlled by the host (not me) and is used entirely to keep the server open. so if you donate, I see not a cent of it.

New Map

ok, so some of you have undoubtably noticed the new map on the server

plan is to build a map which caters specifically to what -You- as gamers actually want.

so if you've got any specific things that you want, and I mean YOU not what you think other people are going to want, then suggest it to me. if you think you want a giant maze underneath flatgrass, I'll do it if I think it could be fun...heck, I'll have to think about putting that in a map now....hm.....ideas....

anyhow, send me your ideas no matter how stupid or smart. I'll see about adding them

just one major gripe I'm having, water isn't working out for me. I still haven't figured out why, so if your ideas use water, I'll try them, but if they don't work out, I'll set them aside for later.

I'm using double digit numbers as the identifier for the map version, so if you see a version higher than you have, you'll have to download it from the server again. if/when this gets a final version I'm happy with, it'll go public on garrysmod.org, that or if enough people complain they want it up there :P
