Pretty much Valve is going to keep everything because they only want the money, so if the update gets removed in some way they'll still try to keep most of the stuff they added.

If the "test period" is up and they remove the literal ♥♥♥♥ stain from our eye sockets, then they'll have to give back the money to the customers (which would likely be rare but a smooth move)

So what? I don't really care that much if the new update sucks, because i just want to have fun. I don't mind the new update, but you should realize that it's just a three month test period for those kinds of weapons to be in the game, so after three months, they'll either be gone or they'll stay. It's just what i think.
