Some great games mentioned already. I am glad to see another Ultima fan (one of my favorite RPG series). Ultima 7 is also my favorite of the bunch. Also glad to see the Gold Box games get a mention. Can't say exactly how many hours I have burned with them but I can say it was worth it.:)

And the Elder Scrolls? What a series. I have enjoyed it since the days of Arena and every title in the main series since then has been excellent, Daggerfall being one of my favs.

Seeing that rogue-likes were mentioned earlier and TES is still being talked about, I have to ask if anyone here has heard of or played UnReal World? If you are a fan of either rogue-likes, open-ended RPGs or both, then head on over to website and give it a look. It's a great game, and it is currently free to boot.

Sue D. Nim - Sims 3 i think definetly counts as an RPG , really it's the most RPG game of them all.

For some reason i never loved oblivion , loved all the other TES games daggerfall my favourie , then skyrim , morrowind . I remember making maps on squared paper for the first game. I loved and treasured my square paper maps , thank god for auto maps now though :)

Yeah hope its Fallout next, New Vegas is my fav Bethesda game. Hopefully done by Obsidian again but using updated Skyrim engine. Think those guys do storylines best and pretty sure they emerged from the ashes of Black Isle so its pretty much their game anyway.

We will see the next Fallout before we get another TES game. Next TES will show up sometimes in the next 3-5 years based on previous game gaps. Plus TES Online is coming up, which actually seems pretty good, aside from the racial factions which suggest you will only ever see 2 other races on your side per character...

I love RPGs. Big Bethesda fan, especially TES. I sometimes play LOTRO and Vanguard, a little Diablo III. Well, you can see my library. I've got some RPGs on Xbox as well.

Somebody mentioned FTL. I heartily endorse it.

Today I'm obsessed with getting back into Morrowind and Oblivion and The Sims 3. (Does The Sims count as an RPG? I think it does the way I play it.) All this is subject to change any moment.

No doubt about it. BETHESDA [ Fallout, Elder Scrolls] knows how to make a gigantic game. I had just finished up with the GOTHIC series and witnessed how the franchise went downhill after GOTHIC 2 and was looking around for games that were about the same age as the first GOTHIC when I ran into MORROWIND and locked on to that series having already played all of the Fallouts. ES III is already turning into a great game and for the months I have played, well worth the money planked down.

I forgot about a lot of those great Amiga games. I love Dungeon Master as well.

My favourite RPG's are dragon age origins , KOTOR , Ultima 7 , Daggerfall and Mass effect. Loved dungeon master and Bloodwych on the amiga.

i dont see how i forgot fallout 3, if you haven't played fallout 3 your missing out on on of the best RPG's i've ever played, Fallout New Vegas is good too but not the same post war feel as fallout 3

FTL is a game that is definitely on my list. I plan on trying it out very soon.

FTL. Hardcore spaceship sim with permadeath consequences. Really forces you to rethink every decision. You'll fail. A lot. But with failure, comes a lesson learnt. You'll enjoy it if you have dreams of becoming the captain of a starship, or you love games that are rogue like.

If you can tolerate non graphical RPGs, then please give Nethack and other true Roguelikes a try. Almost all of them are free, and they offer far more depth than most graphical RPGs by far.

If you simply must have eye-candy, Gothic 2 is great. I liked what Gothic 3 intended to be, but sadly it failed. Even with the Community Patch, it still is all but intolerable.

ToME is great for those who love Roguelikes for the depth, but simply must have a GUI.

PosChengband is great if you need no stinkin' eye candy!

My 2 cents, stay away from Gothic 3, play the first 2 they are the best rpgs out there, Risen has the same feel as gothic 1-2, Morrowind has a great story and lore, Oblivion is fun and also has some great missions/story line. Skyrim is open and there are tons of things to do and best combat system of the Elder Scrolls, GTA Vice City was the best GTA game, Dead Island is fun but multiplayer is retarded and the missions are boring at times. I i can think of any other rpg i'll post.
