heya orange, been playing on a minecraft server wtih supernaturals and factions. Pretty cool theres vampire and wherewolf+ other monster gangs fighting and raiding eachothers bases. I am a Werewolf and nobodys found my submarine i build close to all the action yet. My nephew and some other friends are helping me carry off loot and burn places down before returning to sea. Even if found, anybody would drown trying to get in + its rigged with enough TNT to blow it up a few times over.

yeah i have been also playing the old SLO MO front mission alternative. slow going with no skate, your units just kinda walk around to the music, they dodge and boost here and there but nobody skates. But , those were supposed to be the first wanzers used in the African conflict, some of them really look like garbage trucks or tanks. Heh in that game tanks are serious hurt, they move pretty fast and can outgun you head on.

Jumping squerrels ha ha.... but your'e right, that's how this game goes these days.
Hawken will be different I think, less speed, more tachtics. I'm looking forward to it.
When your card runs fair, you will still experience some lag here and there, not many games are completely lag free. Your vid software was perhaps your bottleneck, now we have fixed that it seems, but you will still experience what all others do too.
Compared to some modern games, fme graphics are nothing. It would be to compare the craphics on Simpsons with Avatar.
Therefor I think Nvidia should take a look at it.

played some more last night with meatwagon. FPS was good i think, even with tons of missiles rockets and even nades flying. I did have a slowdown earlier but i could tell right when the game loaded , then tested in last stand. After a restart it ran ok and i was back to fighting with no arms and no leggs. I cant wait for hawkenn so i dont have to shoot at flying ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ robots that move as fast as squerrels.

Laggy or not laggy makes a difference.
The only time when a bit laggy was when I fraps.
Yesterday I was invited to a private match by Transam (yes).
When midway in match, I suggested to fire up the camera. Transam thought that was a cool idea.
He didn't know fraps got me laggy.
When match was over, he said somethin like this:
Your movements was mutch better in the first part of the match.
See how little it takes?
In the other matches something else happened, I ran out of ammo. Why? I am used to get refill when spawn, so I normally doesen't have to think about that.
If this goes where we want, perhaps you should concider to change your tag from [LAGy] to [FORT] ? lol

Sounds good so far.
By unchecking all options but graphic driver and physX, may do the trick.
Less stuff for the card to concider while processing.

btw. Last time I met roman on constantine, I was so laggy i had to excuse myself to him, it was 1vs1. Lilu was watching, feeling real bad.
I might surprise him next time.

redid my drivers and constantine had no lag, even kicked roman and ganjiers arses with a green on my team, them spammin rockets and nades. I'll test some more later but onegood match was enough for me.

One setting in the video option is very important, VSYNC.
This must be ON.
This setting synchronize the card's framerate to your monitor's refreshrate.
Most minitors is set to 60mhz, this makes your card synch to this. If not, it will go mutch higher, and the processor will overheat, and the performance will drop radically.
Processor temp is crucial. If you have bad cooling, well.....
The problem has increased over time?
Mutch better several months ago?
You have a vacuum cleaner there?
Please do this, pop up the hood and vacuum all dust from fan's and intakes.
Couldn't hurt, it may even be a soloution.

Somehow I was kinda "hoping" to see atleast some signs of problems, especially on Constantine. I have looked at this map as a "graphic trap", but no sir.
So, to conclude some.
This is my third card, the two before that was laggy as hell, my first card was even a mega buck card.
The last card is a dedicated gaming card. The Nvidia drivers are the same as yours (280.26)
I will make the poll, inquery on who is laggy, and who is not, and what cards they use.
Nvidia will look into it. In their driver release notes they referrs to numerous games. They have even made a special Battle Company 2 patch.
If you want an instant cure, well tell me your budget, and I will recommend you a card that will make you forget you ever had lag.

Now I am confused.
The new monster card was installed last night.
It came with software to monitor the strain on the card. It shows gpu temp, fan rpm, mem usage. All in real time.
My plan was to follow what happened in the various maps, then compare with previous measurements (I have recorded fps for several days)
Constantine is for me totally unplayable. First match with new card, I was put right there on Constantine. For the occation, I even put all vid settings on max.
Result:
Totally lag free, details sharp as knife, movements smooth and precise.
The card monitor showed that it probably didn't even know I was gaming.
The whole match was like this. Normally I must quit during a Constantine match, then reboot. Milian left due to lag in this match(Nvidia too).
I just kept on going match after match. One of the last matches we was 8 gamers on Constantine, full house. Not one glitch.

One more thing has come up.
Both you and me have one observation in common, the lag has increased over time. I have always been very careful to be updated with the newest drivers.
So, tonight I will install some old driver, from back then all was good.
With this method of uninstall and install drivers, you have the freedom to install whatever driver you want.
If this old driver works, well then I have something to tell Nvidia.
You wait with the driver update thing. I'll do this experiment first.

"The Game from Hell"
New ♥♥♥♥ has come up. I also told you I had a keyboard problem, well, this problem only occurs in fme. Walking/ skating forward, and I suddenly stops. This happens randomly. My key buttons are fine, it's only in the game.
Tonight, new keyboard/ mouse with old fashion cords, new soundcard.
Why new soundcard? Past day's i have got crackeling sound. Only in the game from hell of corse.

Oh..And... when you have unistalled all drivers, also go to "my Computer" on C:/ find the Nvidia folder, delete it. Recycle bin too.
I did this thing now, Even if I uninstalled all components, there was still several folders from old drivers there.
These old drivers may give the card info you don't want.

All very optional LOL.

I did all this ♥♥♥♥ tonight, nothing bad happened, not so mutch good either DOH....

If someone meet me in game with one green private stripe, well, then I did the ultimate "Upgrade".
Full hard drive format.

FME is the game from hell.

Now you boot up with a clean driver installed.
I don't say u can run constantine flawlessly, but i wouldn't be too surprised i you noticed some improvements.

When my new card arrives, i will begin measure fps rates (frames pr second) and processor temp at various places in this game. Guess i will hang alot in Constantine lol.

Those measurements will be handed over to Nvidia.

My goal is to see this line in the release notes in a future driver version: "Bug fix in Front Mission evolved"
A pre released bug patch wouldn't suck either.

If, while uninstalling some of the other products than "graphics driver" are prompted to restart, choose "Restart Later"

Then, when all products are uninstalled, NOW you may uninstall the "graphics driver"
You will be prompted to restart, please do so.

When up, win will have found a graphics device without driver. Cancel this.

Now, you double click the Nvidia installer you downloaded to your desktop.

When the installer is up, and you have accepted terms and such, you have the option to make a express or custom install.

DO NOT CHOOSE EXPRESS INSTALL.
Here is the place ppl choose "Install all kinds of destructive ♥♥♥♥"

Choose "CUSTOM"

You will now have a list of what you want to install
The ONLY thing you want to install is "Graphics driver" (and "PhysX" if shown)

The rest will be a walk in the park, just carry on with install, and restart.

New driver releases comes with all kinds of features you dont need, they even drag down the performance. Also when doing the recommended express install, old drivers versions will still hang in causing problems.
Quick version of a "what to do":
Download latest driver, for you it's 280.26 I think.

Choose "save as" and put it on your desktop. Yes, desktop, no where else.

Now, click "Start" and "programs and features" (if Win 7)
If XP u go to "Control panel" and choose "Remove or add programs"

All programs related to Nvidia u must uninstall from there UNLESS the "Nvidia Graphics driver XXX.XX" U will take this later.

If you see "Nvidia chipset driver" you must not touch this either.

ChUninstall all Nvidia products unless the driver itself, and chipset i you got one (prolly not)
Now you will get rid of HD Audio, Nvidia Update, 3D Stereoscopic driver, 3D controller, Nvidia Control paner etc... etc....
Now, when all those products are removed, THEN u may uninstall the driver itself.

I don't mean this to be my blog, but these days I read a lot here and there.
Some of the readings make sense, and may be at help.
Since we both have this...... I call it "symtoms" I choose to share a couple of things here.
(I call it symtoms because i see the lag problem merly as a symtom that something in the is wrong)
There is one thing I have seen many places, where ppl say the vid perfomance suddenly has increased.
Keyword, "Clean driver install".

The reason for last post is this:
My lag probs are most severe on Constantine. Total chaos there.
What is special about this map?, and what has that to do with the soundcard?
I see before me the developers.
"Hey this map is in a hangar, let's do a cool thing here, let's make ECHO"
The sound in this map differs from all others. It put a whole different strain on the soundcard.
The other day I upgraded my BIOS. Sound was gone. I re-installed drivers, sound came back, but now with crackels in it.
If soundcard fight with videocard, u got lag.
Don't count on windows when it claims "No conflicts"
I would test this right away, but now I'm in the deepest woods, far from my gaming station.
Lilu had lag a time ago, updated sound drivers, problem solved.
Those cards affect eachother.
Could be other stuff too, but this kinda make sense.

On the evga forum, i came over a thread with this guy, complainig over major lag issues.
This was solved, due to a HW conflict.

Well, here is what Tech Support and I finally came up with. In Computer Management under System Devices there will be a couple of High Definition Audio controllers. View the properties and see which PCI Bus it is located on. Compare that to the PCI Bus location on the graphics card. In my case, Display Adapters -> NVIDIA GeForce 560 Ti. Disable the High Definition Audio Controller that shares the same location. This ought to fix the problem. Turned out, in the end, it really was an Audio driver conflict. Thanks all, and hope this helps someone

EVGA has also a great customer support, and they go hand in hand with Nvidia.
EVGA buy cards from Nvidia, and put on a different housing, other cooling system and tweaks the clock. Then they sell it.
The card I have ordered is a EVGA GeForce GTX 580 SC
Where SC=Super Clocked.

There is whole community over there, as I said before, dedicated graphic card geeks, all hard core gamers.

I will not hesitate to throw them a line.
They will prolly throw themselves over this problem.
During next week, things will happen.

A poll would be a great idea Raw.
I kmow of 4 cards. Two has lag, two have not.
Two ATI cards without lag, two Nvidia with lag,
Your card should be more than enough to pull a wanzer or two.
I think that going to the developers would be a dead end in more than one way.
The makers make a game on a platform, their work are more on the creative side. They prolly wouldn't know squat about graphics outside their wiew.
Card makers on the other hand....
Compared to modern games, fme is a very non-graphic intensive game.
I think it's a bug in some card drivers, growing over time.
Nvidia has prolly made fme support in a hurry, and moved on.

I will make this poll, see if there is a pattern.
I will now have two companies to dive into this.
Nvidia who have made the card, and EVGA who tweaks their card and redesigned it.
EVGA seems very dedicated, and they have a bunch of graphic geeks on a well visited forum.

ok, how bout doing a pole on every fme group and whoever has lag , list their graffix card. i have an Nvidia GeForce 8600 GT card.

For some reason, that is my experience too.
That is a fact I have tried to hide.
However, this phenomenon have puzzeled me too. My theory is this, something is building up over time.
My comp ran fme smooth 3-4 months ago, but the problem has been increasing over time.
My agenda with this upgrade is this:
This upgrade of mine is my ticket to be heard.
First somone must admit there is a problem, either with the program itself, or with the graphics.
Nvidia will listen, that I know, sqare will not, that I know too.
But Square will listen to Nvidia. If fme cause lag, and customers blame Nvidia, then Nvidia will tell Square what to do about it.
It's possible that some cache file is growing huge over time, making the whole game staggering.
Nvidia can possibly find this out, and if someone can tell Square how to fix this, well I think Nvidia can.

yeah, but orange, FME played fine for me before ,with this very same card. For no good reason it started lagging , i didnt change anything.

Nvidia's answer made sense.
There are several lines of cards. My former card had all the processor power and memory one could want, but not intended for gaming, therefor not optimized or supported for games, or any game maker.
Card makers and game makers cooperate when they make drivers, but only for those cards wich is intended for it.
Two cards from same maker can have same processor and equal amount of mem, one will perform great, and one will suck due to mostly software and how it's tuned.
If my new card sucks too, then Nvidia have to look into this, and come up with an explanation on why this problem occures. This is because Nvidia officially supports this game, and is obligated to at least explain.
I think there is something wrong in this game who make the graphics lag.
If someone can fix this, it has to be craphics card makers.
With my new card, they cannot say "Oh, you must buy a better card" because there is no better card.

Testing done. Lots of ♥♥♥♥ happened. Upgraded my BIOS, then no sound. Downloaded new sound drivers, then when installing, evaluation time for winzip expired, downloading winrar, upgrade ok, but with crackeling sound.
A couple of ok matches, then last match on constantine, mega laggy. I had to excuse myself to my opponent. I even felt nauseos.
No more of this ♥♥♥♥..... I took out my credit card......
What I hope is a cure, are on it's way.
I got personal service the other day from Nvidia, so if lag persists, I will take this matter with Nvidia again, this time with their top of the gaming line card. Then they must look into this, and analyze the problem.

Well, I could return it, but then again I received a reply from Nvidia today, confirming my assumptions. My old card is not optimized or supported for any kind of game.
My new card is. So I'll stick to this cheapo game card untill my budget allows me to settle for something sweet.
However, I did sense some improvement after all. I actually played one whole match on constantine with better some performance than before.

Lilu claims to have come around the lag problem by update the sound card.
I makes sense, constantine has a whole different sound than the other arena's.
Not long ago I did the same, but I'll do it again. I'll rip the whole sound card out if I have to.
More testing tonight, I'll keep you informed.

eeeek cant u return it? say it dont work with whatever OS u got for some reason, ♥♥♥♥ dont always work on pcs even if theyre sposed to. I returned a HD just cuz it didnt fit very well , even though it was the proper type. I didnt want the wonkey'ness causing trouble later.

heh , our cards are fine, they will play games even more demanding than FME. I play Arma 2 on mine with decent settings and it runs great. There should be steam ONLINE support to atleast chat with us and chek our actual ping in a game and help tune us in so we can play right , but steam is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and realy just a market for games , not a DEDICATED server.

I'll just go play with ♥♥♥♥ named weapons in FM Alternative and finish stomping FM3 into the ground. Why didnt they make a multi player mode for the old games, i do know theres an arena battle mode for FM1 on the DS, but without the moving around and tactics its kinda silly. I do love the simulator in FM3 so u can train and learn new skills. its a littel too good because i go into regular missions and i swear the bad guys cry i woop them so bad , or make their wanzer ♥♥♥♥ out the pilot to be pulverised by a team mate hehe. Sigh, fme is missing allot of stuff the old games had AND doenst have support.

Lag issue still on. This pisses me off, but I think I have come a bit closer.
My lag problems are puzzeling me 24/7.
Smooth as a that in one map, next map I can hardly move.
My aim is now on graphics cards. Why I haven't thought much about this before now, is because I run a $1.000,- Nvidia Card.
Thing is, this card is intended for Cad and design, not gaming.
Some forum threads claim this card will be outperformed by any $100,- cards intended for gaming.
I have written to Nvidia about this, but no answer yet.

got front mission alternative. its kinda slow but stil fun. kinda cool how the theme is the first wanzer conflict in Africa, and all the weapons are named after ♥♥♥♥ slang. Wang , boner, manhood and sutch. that game could be an easy port to the nintendo DS if they were smart,but u know square soft. Boy those early wanzers were easy kills for tanks and assault helicopters. you have to attack from the best angle to survive , and get re suplied mid battle to get it done.

changing servers did nothing , i lagged even away from the fighting , hardly able to even turn. Im flushing the toilet on this peanut filled turd.

Well, one thing is for sure, and I think u will agree on this. Technically, this game is a piece of ♥♥♥♥.
Lately I have played some single player, same ♥♥♥♥ happens there.
Then the lag isn't lag, it's corrupted files. Prolly cachefiles.
I tried to clear some of them, but only to get other problems.

I fully understand the decissions u have made around here Raw.
When Hawken arrives, FME Huston may have a problem.
We won't be strangers anyways.

router is fine and the cable connection is pretty fast. I test it often. I'll try the steam cloud ♥♥♥♥ but im not hopeful. recycle bin is hungry for some maggot infested FME.

I could easily tell u how to erease it, but I won't.
However, we have gone through a couple of possible soloutions, not successful, but there is one more thing you should try.
You should contact your net provider to run some tests on your router. You may have a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ upload speed. This may cause lag. Your download speed may be ok, but upload is another thing.
There is also other settings in your router that can narrow the data flow.
You won't be lag free, but it seems you have more lag than others.
Also, u could experiment with the Steam Clous settings. Chosing other servers and download speed.
Steam/ Settings/ Download + Cloud.

Ahnhold would be very disappointed if you deleted him.
