Valve has fully disabled Steam skinning as I know it. If anyone tells me otherwise I'd love to do something if I had the time, but it might be a while. Been a busy couple years for me.

For those using Plexed 5, I fixed the top bar being missing in the latest Steam update:

Copy and paste the entire contents of https://pastebin.com/raw/VqZzPH2q into Steam\skins\Plexed 5\resource\layout\uinavigatorpanel.layout . Back up the original file just in case.

EDIT: Updated the layout file again to fix a new bottom bar that got added.

Latest steam update breaks the top bar sadly, I'm sure you're aware though.

I'm currently using Plexed 5, and the only issue I'm experiencing is in the Settings window. A few of of the sections have some of their options cramped up towards the top of the window on top of each other (not all of the options in a few of the sections, just a few of the section's options.)

Also, this isn't an issue, but I miss the big Vista-like back and forward buttons that 4.7 had.

Plexed seems to have an issue with the Report function UI on profiles not letting you scroll down far enough. I'm currently using 4.7 and I'm not sure if the issue is present in 5.0 or not. I'll wait for the version 5 update and the steam library update to pass before commenting further.

Haven't heard of that but I have recently been told that the leaked build with the new Steam redesign allows you to skin the client through CSS. Should that feature exist in the final release... well, Plexed won't be going away any time soon.

I'm not sure if this will change things or not, or if you already knew about this but there is a way to skin and change the look of the new friends list ui. i haven't tried it myself but there is a github for a steam friends ui patcher which lets you change the look of the friends ui by letting you modify and change the friends.css file used by the new friends window.

i'm not sure if this is something you may look into trying to use as i'm not sure how much is able to be changed with this and the method to create a skin for the new friends ui is way different compared to a normal steam skin because the new friends list is basically just a stripped down version of google chrome.

Yup, was talking with the guy behind Metro for Steam earlier about it but I was at work. New stuff is apparently done in Panorama, going to look into this and see if I can fix it... if not I'll be even more disappointed in Valve than usual.

This skin is one hell of a skin, I like it very much (Finch ver). Thanks for your effort.

I apparently rewrote a lot of the DirectWrite-dependent stuff over the years, only had to redo the layout code for the stuff in the top-right. Thankfully was less than half an hour to fix, not counting the time I spent getting used to doing this again, lol. I want to make sure everyone who wants to use the skin can.

It probably won't work well due to various shortcuts I used to render some things years ago not working without DirectWrite. Thanks to a lack of physical space I still haven't been able to set up my tower PC that had an in-progress build of 4.5 on it, but I might as well just start from scratch and finally fix that. I don't have a Mac to test it on, but I'll see what I can do.

Yes, I extracted them to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Skins.

I extracted Plexed (and Plexed Finch, to see the difference between the two), and the only option to choose is "<default skin>".

Otherwise I'll just distribute two versions of the skin.

Hi, this is a brilliantly designed skin. Though, to be quite honest, there's one major block for myself to using this on regular basis - it's the DOWNLOAD PROGRESS when on normal game list page.

I am using a metered connection, and when something happens automatically, be it poorly setup auto update of my part, or something else, on the background on regular Steam skin, it shows download activity in the footer. This skin doesn't, and instead it displays a simple progress bar, almost unnoticeable for me, at the URL bar. When you're on metered connection, a slip up like this could cost you dearly real-money wise.

Can you add an option so I can have the footer back?

Unable to replicate on the latest Steam beta builds & it's something on Valve's end anyways.

I think the music player is glitched.. For some reason, when I'm ingame, I open up the music player and turn on shuffle and nothing happens it just plays all the songs in order. But, when I open the music player when im not playing any games and turn on shuffle, everything works just fine.

That should be entirely on Valve's end - with very few exceptions I don't have any control over text. Thank you, though! Will look & see if it's one of those exceptions.

I found a typo recently while idling games for cards, if you try to launch something else the box that pops up says "Contine" instead of "Continue."
