Im considering the idea of restarting the server for RIsing Storm 2 Vietnam, does anyone play or would anyone bet interested?

We lasted a long time past the population decline, however with steamcharts showing weeknight population below 100 and the devs continual refusal to adress the mandatory restart, Im forced to shut the server down.

We had a really good run of it made some good friends, and hopefully eveyone got a chance to abuse their admin a little bit. However with the game continuing to decline even as new game modes released and us only populationg about 3 days a week sometimes even less I think its time for us to pull out and give it over to the clans.

Hopefully Ill still see all of you in other games, because who still plays blackwake lol.

Hello everyone, Im not sure how many of you read these but I want to thank and say congrats to all of the admins and mods for their effort over the last 3 weeks. It has been a success and our server is without a doubt the best pub server in the game.

The title of the thread is what it implies, the game has lost half its population in the last 5 days, and we are at a quarter of the pop we started at. I expect this trend to continue as the game matures and estimate probably around 800 or so active players for the game. Now what does that mean for us?


Server Population

When we started 2 days after launch there was a shortage of server and an abundance of players, this mean that we could get population up in less that 20 mins from an empty server, it also meant we could retain that population for a full 24 hour cycle, that means not having to repopulate the server ever.

Unfortunatly I think those days are behind us, but we are in the good position of having a dedicated player base and being one of the few community servers with a steady population every US night. Populating the server will continue to be a challenge early afternoon US, however I dont estimate that it will ever take over one hour if we begin the attempt after 5 pm est. With the help of our mods and our dedicated player base we should continue to thrive even as the population shrinks.

Many people saw the inital success of the game and started servers for thier clans, i can count over 15 active servers that have been full since we started that are now empty and we remain, I have high hopes for the Tavern even as the overall population continues to decline.


Server team imbalance

As more vets leave more new players will contine to come in, and will represent a siazable 30-40 percent of our server at any given time. This has the potential to create imbalance matches if everyone chooses to stack one team with vets.

The major downside of this is it creates a toxic enviromnet for the losing team, and the new players wont learn anything, and the veteran players will get annoyed and quit. This could have a very negative impact on our server overall. Lossing 15-20 players after a match could kill the population of the server for the day if it happens at the wrong time, and leave a bad taste in peoples mouth that will make them not come back. This is a serious issue as the population continues to dwindle more servers will be competing for less players, we have to make sure ours stands out.

To counteract this im asking mods, if you are good at gal captain and you see its a stack maybe take a hoy instead or dont go captain. Im also trying to recruit more mods and maybe we can get some mods who prefer crewing over captain so they can run around and help players.

At the end of the day you may be on a ship with a lot of noobs, some of them who dont listen, feel free to kick them if they arent putting in any effort.


Trolls

With lower pop comes a higher proportion of trolls, ban them, kick them, mute them whatever you think is appropriate.



In closing

The fact that we are the only independnt non clan community server still standing speaks volumes to the quality of our server. Its more that just low ping and a 64 tick rate, its the admins, mods, and active players we have.

We will contine to recruit more mods, as I belive going forward thats the only way we can continue to keep our server at the same quality. If you see regualrs who are good players to be around please encourage them to apply.
