The only hitch is the matchmaking. It's P2P, but they're in the process of adding dedicated servers (but it's unknown what the balance will be between dedicated and P2P). It's also hard to find games because you can't join games that are in process. The matchmaking in general seems flawed because even though a fair amount of people are playing, at times it can be hard to find a game. In March a patch will come out that should fix matchmaking and add new content.
There are three modes: Team Deathmatch, Fumigation and Psych Warfare. Fumigation is a tug of war with control points. The team that caps 2/3 CPs gains points, the opposing team loses points. The team with 100% of the points wins.
Psych Warfare is similar to CTF, but there's one flag and it's a battery that you need to attach to a machine. Once that's done you need to defend it for a bit until the machine charges up, at which point it wil emit propaganda and you gain a point.
What sets GCI apart from any other FPS I've played are its gadgets, which as LPhela said include a glider, rollerscates, spring boots, ninja smokebombs that make you invisible and several others. This makes it a tad more dynamic and unpredictable experience. Some of the weapons are Batman inspired (like the freeze gun), but the majority are pretty standard shooter stuff.
Giantbomb did a pretty good Quicklook on the game if you're interested in it. Convinced me to get it :)
