Dodgeball MGE Brainstorm
This is a discussion dedicated to the upcoming Dodgeball MGE server.

For those of you who don't know what MGE is:
The primary focus in MGE is one-on-one battles. Players are placed into small arenas that are chunks of existing maps often played in competitive Team Fortress 2. Areas such as the center point of Badlands or the final control point of Granary. In these arenas, two players fight each other. The goal is to kill the opponent usually 20 times. The first player to reach the required number of kills wins. When a player gets killed, they quickly respawn in a random location within the arena, and both players are given full health and a small overheal.

Current Plan

  • Within Dodgeball MGE (DBMGE), all rockets will be the same in all arenas.

  • However, different arenas may have different team sizes, i.e. 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, etc.

  • There will be ten arenas [or maps], and these will be decided through the poll above.

  • For every match, the match detail is sent to our website, in which it can be viewed by anyone, sort of like a match history. These data includes:

    • Team Member(s) [With Rank Attached]

    • Final Score

    • Rocket Speed at Each Kill

    • Time Elapsed

    • Who Killed Who At Timestamp [With Rank Attached]

  • Decide each map team size after the poll closes

  • Start on creating the map

  • Start on creating the plugin

  • Start on building the website

  • Beta testing stage

  • Release

10 Kills to win (Simply cause rounds would take too long), overheal might be a bit of a problem, cause then it would save you from a rocket leaving you with low hp (sometimes), tho it might not effect anything since rocket dmg increase on the speed. Other than that everything is good

Idea: could there be like a way where you can see the top players in each range but also have like a best player overall leaderboard? ex someone who only plays in cqc is the top in the cqc maps but does poorly in long range so like that will lower his score in the overall leaderboard something along those lines besides that sounds like a great idea

Not sure how I would calculate that? Just the amount of wins on cqc maps divided by the amount of wins on mid-long range maps and times that by the total score?

If the point is to be more competitive then I hope it'll be hosted on a central US server so it'll give everyone in NA at least somewhat decent ping.

We are planning to have multiple locations available, but with the current budget, it might be a little while.
