BioWare cinematic director Ken Thain offered a small update on the status of the next Mass Effect game with a behind-the-scenes photo of a motion capture set.

Thain posted the image on Twitter, confirming that motion capture for the game is underway at TheCaptureLab in Vancouver, Canada.

Last year, BioWare confirmed the upcoming title in the Mass Effect series will be penned by the lead writer of Halo 4; Though details of the new Mass Effect are scant. BioWare has previously said it will focus on exploration. The game will also see the return of the Mako, the all-terrain vehicle that players can pilot on the surface of planets.

BioWare revealed that it had plans for "another full game" in the Mass Effect franchise way back in 2012. The developer said previously that calling the new title Mass Effect 4 is a "disservice" to the game, as it will not follow the trilogy's Commander Shepard.

More recently senior development director Chris Wynn confirmed the game will include an online component.

Details of how the studio plans to integrate online features have yet to be revealed, with Wynn saying only that the studio is looking to "shape online" for the upcoming game.

"Things are getting real now and I need an excellent producer to come shape online for the next Mass Effect," Wynn wrote at the time.

Yesterday, BioWare creative director Mac Walters took to Twitter to ask fans about what they wanted to see in the upcoming Mass Effect 4.

There was no shortage of suggestions made by fans, with Walters responding actively to the good ones. The suggestions jump from new features to revamped systems, gameplay in general to improved activities.

Walters apparently may even consider some of them based on his re-tweets. He agreed that Mass Effect 4 needs side missions that are not hollow and have their own ongoing stories. He was most pleased with the suggestion of “more galactic mysteries to investigate, like Leviathan.”

Aside that there was discussion over a Nightmare difficulty mode, an extensive ability to modify your character’s appearance during the story’s progression, the Nemesis system from Shadow of Mordor and the War Table setup from Dragon Age: Inquisition.

Elsewhere Walters mentioned that they still haven’t decided on a title for the game. The team at the moment just refers to it plainly as Mass Effect.

BioWare has been fairly active this year, boasting on Twitter about how beautiful the game is looking. That leads us to hope that there’s a chance we get to see the game in action at E3 this year.

While still a daunting task, since development is not complete, any sort of appearance would be appreciated by its fan-base.
