The Team Fortress 2 refined is going up on the basis of this, people have more accounts, people idle on these accounts and they get weapons that they craft into scrap metal. Back in the early days refined stayed at a stable price due to people crafting hats to get them, now with hats being more readily available the refined is being crafted less and less thanks to idle accounts and the MannConomy. If you look here http://tf2stats.net/item/Refined-Metal/5002/ Refined is usually crafted then kept in backpacks thus having a surplus of it. but if you look here http://tf2stats.net/item/Mann-Co--Supply-Crate-Key/5049/ Keys are used to unbox 1/3 of the time and sold 2/3 of the time. this makes keys used a lot more causing the price to fluctuate in refined do to the demand of keys. Keys do not rise, Refined metal falls in price and the keys stablize to keep the economy in check.

I know that pet rock invited me, and i only joined just to post this as Bill also pointed out: the key prices aren't going up; ref is going down.

Keys rise as ref lowers, price is still the same.
