Maemo 5 Update

A Maemo 5 update just came out today, but I personally will not update yet, because the only method that I know of to update Maemo 5 involves a reflash.

Nokia, you really need to find a way around this.

Fellow Linux Users,

With the release of the latest version of the Android operating system, and the latest version of the Maemo operating system, Linux has gained a strong foothold in the mobile world. One could easily predict that the Droid has the highest chance of any mobile phone to overrun Apple's iPhone and strike fear into the hearts of the proprietary companies who would otherwise dare release a closed source product into the mobile world. Should the Droid fail, the Nokia N900 shall bear the torch into the open source mobile world. I myself have recently bought a Nokia N900. The N900 is the most open mobile device I have ever used. I dare not dub the Nokia N900 a "phone". The N900 is an internet tablet. The N900's predecessors have lacked cellular capabilities. The N810 was an excellent internet tablet, but the N900 now reigns supreme in this criteria of devices. The N900 is an excellent Linux tablet with a 600MHz processor, 1GB of application memory, 256MB RAM, 32GB of internal storage, MicroSD card compatibility, 800x480 resolution, infared transmitter, FM receiver, and FM transmitter. Those of you looking for an open phone should place this on your checklist of devices to look at.

I encourage you all to invite your friends into this group and into the open source community. Do not assume that we are all liberal because of our desire for a world with free information. I myself subscribe to many views of conservative libertarianism. Politics mean next to nothing in the world of open source. Worry not of the beliefs of others, simply look forward to the new year and hope that the next generation will live in a world where the interests of the young can be stimulated for no price.

Your friend,

Skippy
