Even if this game gets bundled for free in some kind of Valve "30 year anniversary - thanks for tolerating our automatic wealth extractor" pack, the odds of me ever playing it even once are about the same as the odds of someone holding a gun to my head and forcing me to.

i eventually bought the game in a bundle like many years later, i've tried back 4 blood and it looks prettier, but its objectively worse than L4D2. sometimes i think about this group and laugh as i imagine it didnt even hit valves radar. These days companies do way worse and get away with it every day

Its a good news, but remember ... it still doesn't solve problem with Valve promises about L4D. My Disappointment of ending support for L4D still persists. :(

I can understand the argument that a free L4D2 could be equated to a content addition to L4D1 and for those that choose that option fair enough. On the other hand I still stand firm against playing L4D2 as I feel it would be sending a message that I endorse the way this project was handled.

I boycotted the game until 2013 when they released L4D2 for FREE.

Free was the original price I should have paid for L4D1 content additions that were promised. I now have that promise 4 years later.

@Moon agreed. I never looked at valve once they forced to sign their rights away or else they wouldn't even be able to access their games offlien. They are a very unethical company. ♥♥♥♥, everyone needs to make a profit what valve has done shows how ethically deficit they are.

Still haven't bought it, and never will. Now those tards are actually thinking about making a third clone. It's one thing they argued that 2 was needed because the first was missing something (everyone's money, not just new content). But a third, what did they fail hard in the second one again that they need to solicit everyone yet again for more money?

Yup, they sold us beta. And I'm not buying awesome sequel of amazing game, beacause I'm not a ♥♥♥♥♥ and I respect myself. Well, actually I would rather become a prostitute, than buy this game.

@digit: Yes, I feel the same. I remember the excitement when I first played L4D - a really great experience. The atmosphere was just right IMO - bleak with some humor thrown in here and there by the awesome characters of the original. I remember waiting and waiting faithfully for Valve to add to the game and then lo and behold here comes a sequel! I felt that my faith was misplaced and since then I have _never_ looked at Valve the same way again unfortunately. I just hope groups like this made them realize that alot of people did not appreciate the way they handled things. Such a waste of a brilliant IP. And the whole episode 3 fiasco is another issue that chafes.

This is something that pissed me off to no end. Here is a game that had so much potential. They could have made so many additions to L4d before even thinking of releasing a second one. More maps,features,weapons, etc, etc. Then they ♥♥♥♥ on us releasing a second one. Still haven't bought it and im not even thinking of buying it.

I kind of wish there was a third Left 4 Dead game released six months or a year after the second one, just so other people could better understand my grievance with Valve. Alas, Valve probably figured they couldn't pull the same stunt twice. In all honesty, I really believe that Killing Floor is a far superior game to L4D. It's better supported, it's more fun, there isn't the same insane difficulty gap as between advanced and expert as in the original L4D, and above all: No ragequtting. If you want to see a source engine game with interesting ideas on co-op, you should try out Zombie Master. It doesn't have that big a fanbase nor does it work completely, but at least it doesn't charge you anything for its half finished ideas.
Left 4 Dead was an experiment on Valve's part. When they realized how many problems the game would be faced with in late development, they started working on fixing them, in a $60 expansion pack / patch called L4D2

Exterminator: They only released token things for the original. No new weapons or special infected but merely a silly additional game mode and maybe a map or two. Sorry but that's a far cry from what was promised.

For $5 I bought it. You can't go wrong for $5. The boycott worked. They released stuff for the originial. The admins got to talk to valve.
