I make no promises, but I do regret never finishing "Blood Money"... I was actually really proud of that one. Even if I come back only to finish one of the like 20 projects I left abandoned...
Except Haunting Grounds... I plan on making that a stand alone game once I actually learn Godot~
Is there still life in this old group of ours?
Been having a weird craving to come back to this game and mod again... Need to dust off the old pc and grab some old programs and files and what not...
Was thinking of having another event for old time sakes, but before I shout into an empty room I wanted to know if there would be any interest in another one.
But is quite revarding if you van manage to tame her...
Good luck~
Going to be trying to tame Unity myself... First one to release vorkable prototype get's to keep hammer's debts~
But in all seriousness... good luck and hopefully it vill treat you vell...
He did entire series covering basically everyzing you vould need to know... Granted it vas in CSGO, so some zings vill not be relevant... but ze basic foundations vill~
I myself haven't even touched ze program since I believe 2018... 22,000 hours on record... Lost ze drive and passion after... some personal zings...
Is good to see people still vanting to learn and keep ze game breazing... Few mappers left, and few still are good at it... I might not be able to collab on ze same level zat you vould like or vant... but my maps in ze day did get razer complex... boz Rofl's and mine vere pushing vhat ze source engine could handle...
If you vant to take my maps, decompile, take some assets here and zere... go vild... I can even maybe make some custom art, loading poster, icons... been furzering my art skills since I retired... and I'm at ze level zat I vished I vas back zen...
I can also try to answer some questions, offer advice, playtest... mapper for ten years... I still remember some~
Is not much... but I'll help vhere I can from sidelines~
I am about to start a project on my on and I am looking for someone to participate with their own ambitions and ideas ,l4d2 still lives today and I would be happy if someone shares knowledge and dedication to make something unique ,map would revolve around testing player's skills and the way players think and make decisions while playing the map ,which means a lot of complex functions will be created in order to make this project possible.
I have some general knowledge but I do lack experience since I have never made anything in hammer before rather then some basic tests with func_movelinear ,elevators ,doors ,rotations and stuff that would make this map something that has not been done before.
I bought a new PC and it has a nice configuration. But... When I installed the hammer and make my map i found it's so terrible. For example, when I select a solid or entity object, it usually takes 2-3 seconds for the card to appear, or when I use the texture-tool, it takes 1-3 seconds for the result to appear. I am very upset about this and hope you guys can help me figure out a way.The problem i called it [ DELAY ].
What I have tried and what I can offer are as follows
1.there is no DELAY in a new map.
2.when I make my hammer vision very very low,it doesn't DELAY.
3.my cpu is amd r5-1600 ,gpu is rx570.
4.i tried to open the cpu performance of the panel while i run the hummer,i found the chart is keeping a low state.(3%-6%)
5.i tried overclocking my cpu to 3.9ghz,but has little effect.
6.i tried reinstall my l4d2 and hammer ,it has no effect.
It really gives me a headache, if someone can help just reply me,thanks so much!

Quote: “Entity weapon_spawn leaked!” Hammer tells us as we attempt to compile the level. One of our corridor’s walls isn’t reaching the floor, and so a small gap now leads to the blackness. We don’t notice this for 10 minutes. The frustration caused by inflexible software and user fallibility settles into a pattern of expletives and subsequent revelations that’s repeated many times. But using Hammer becomes addictive as with every problem solved, a smug sense of triumph overwhelms adversity: we’re clever, because we fixed a problem presented to us by our own ignorance.

Have fun... ;D
I suggest a common publishing date. The maps have to be uploaded by tomorrow, but if anyone get's into trouble we could wait for him and make an all-together-publish at once. Or in between 6 hours - depending on our time zones. I really like the idea to set off together. It is a group action, it is more attention and it is way to attitudinize too... :-)

Anyone that remains... Best of luck to you... ;)
Arrived at 16:00, misty weather, start of dusk - had a look at the trainstation and the congress centre and how they were illuminated...
Came to this conclusion: it is almost impossible to rebuild this scenery in hammer. So, although this is a real-life scenery with real-world lightning - it just can not be real!
Understand?
Knights of the Hammer Tools stamp and shout! Final spurt!
My current diagnosis: stage fright!
I am going to send you a link by tommorow. This is going to be my "first born", do I fear presenting it to the public? What's the worst to happen? Presenting a not-so-good-map and wasting the time of people unknown to me? Haha!
I'll go on trying my best on this map. As long as my befuddled PC won't break. Is it OK to say that there is "too much love" in this map to stop? But there is this difference between imagination and necessity causing me this stress.
As far as "Is it worth the stress?"...
That really is purely subjective... This is a friendly competition, where the prize is just bragging rights that you made the best map under pressure... For some people that is enough, but I completely understand if it is not enough to drive people to stand with it and see it to the end...
And nothing says you can't work on it after the fact... I know after the contest (and after I release a bunch of updates for my otehr works), I'll be adding more to it...
I can offer a general assessment / opinion... but it is ultimately up to you whether or not it is worth the time, stress, pressure, etc, to finish the map for the sheer sport of it... ;)
I am organizing a ""Lesewelle" (a "reader's wave" in english): 15 more or less prominent people are reading out in the brewery, on a ship, in a monastery, in a water tower and so on. This is going to happen on 20th of November.
And my bread-job also needs its attention :-)
But it keeps being my intention to publish something in this first contest. On the other hand "publishing a map" is equal to "taking responsibility for the players enjoyment" - and I do not want to serve them lukewarm fish.
If some of you would like to have an inspection on the status and give an assessment, what "delighment-rate" this may reach, I'll upload the source files in the next two days. I need an opinion on this. Is it worth the stress?
Send me a message/ add me to your list / wave your hands if you are interested.
Check this out folks, I cracked the server side issues with workshop maps.
2 Months in Ellipsis time is about enough work for one chapter... maybe, if I am lucky... ;3
If for some reason you need to have an area tilted (Like I do right now)... 10 degrees (Y or X depending on your map) seems to be the magic number...
You can still walk through doorways... You can go up and down stairs working with and against the extra ten degrees (so long as the stairs are the base 8x12)... and nav seems to generate everywhere perfectly fine...
I would recommend bulding the entire area before you tilt it however... because building on an slant is a nightmare... and if you don't NEED to do so... I would stay away from it... ;D
