I don't have 3DS Max or Maya installed on this rig yet. I also took advantage of the free software promotion from DAZ3D, I just haven't downloaded them yet.

I haven't had access to my PC for a couple of weeks, until about week ago so I haven't had much of a chance to mess with Panda.

well im getting into maya and mabe 3Ds max after that. i hear that 3D's max is more suited for designing game models, but im sure maya will be fine.

I've been trying to get back into 3D modelling about a month ago (3DSMax :p), but never made it very far. I'm gonna get some stuff set up on my new system and try again.

you should give soft image or another 3D modling program a try.

I'm gonna try and play with at least UE3 or UDK tonight, maybe even the Source SDK, not sure yet

I'm more familiar with the Unreal engine. I tried messing with the Source engine a few years ago, but couldn't get used to the tools. I've been messing with Unreal off and on for years starting with Unreal Gold, then UT2K4 (Editors Choice Edition with bonus DVD), UT3, and UDK. I have the 3DBuzz tutorial videos for the UT2K4, UT3, and UDK engines, but I haven't made it very far in them, nor have I really done much. Plus they changed the engine from using subtractive space, as used prior to UT3/UDK, to additive space, which is what UE3/UDK uses.

Yea i havenet checked out he UDK engine yet but i as of now im working with the Source Engine. Its alot of tutorials out their thats how i learned.

I know the local university where I live got a game design curriculum for CS majors a couple of years ago. I thought about trying to get back into school for it. Right now I've just been trying to teach myself UnrealED, C++, and the Source engine.

lol just see if your school has a class for game design. if not then i would start out small such as flash games.
