@Sync, It's possible that people aren't giving you anything but their trash because when they do give you something of value, maybe you still aren't grateful for it.

Like who wants to give someone something nice and of actual value only for them to complain and discard it?
Meanwhile, people see me digging through the literal trash and holding empty bottles above my head like they're the greatest treasure ever, and then they give me nice things for free in response. But I suppose I should be thanking ungrateful people for their ungratefulness because I might have to go out into the world and fight monsters instead of using trash cans like treasure chests, if people weren't throwing away good things.
