Dreamfall Chapters: The Longest Journey is an adventure game for the PC that continues the epic journey that began in the critically acclaimed and award-winning adventures The Longest Journey and Dreamfall: The Longest Journey.

Independently produced and funded by Red Thread Games, this project brings back the core team behind Dreamfall, including Ragnar Tørnquist, creator of The Longest Journey saga.

Dreamfall Chapters continues and concludes the gripping story of Zoë Castillo, the Dreamer.

Revisiting familiar locations and characters, and introducing new sights and sounds, new faces, new game mechanics, new thrills and challenges, Dreamfall Chapters takes the player on an emotional, exciting and challenging journey -- from a dystopian cyberpunk future, through the mysterious and dreamlike Storytime, to the magical landscapes of Arcadia.

We aim to recapture the heart and soul of The Longest Journey and to improve on the immersion and game mechanics of Dreamfall in order to bring you a fitting, satisfying and emotional conclusion to the Dreamer Cycle.

SECRETS OF DRAGON’S SPINE’ UPDATES FOR AGE OF CONAN

Durham, USA - September 3rd, 2012 – Funcom is excited to announce a series of upcoming updates called ‘Secrets of Dragon’s Spine’ for its massively multiplayer online role-playing game ‘Age of Conan: Unchained’. The updates will be released over time, with the first one to hit in the next few months, and will introduce a remote desert region known as The Dragon’s Spine filled with new dungeons, quests, monsters and rewards for players to experience.

The ‘Secrets of Dragon’s Spine’ update series will provide players with all new Hyborian experiences as they venture to the desert region located south and west of the ancient city of Pteion. Rippling desert dunes stretches for miles in every direction from the spine, lifeless, except for a small oasis in the mountain’s shadow, and treacherous caves and tunnels weave in and out of the mountain rock. The only building made by man is the Palace of Cetriss, which can be found in the center of the area, at the foot of the mountain ... but men are not the only beings to have forged a thriving civilization in the desolate desert, many secrets lay buried beneath the sands.

“Our version of Hyboria has grown into a vast online world since we launched back in 2008,” says Craig Morrison, Creative Director at Funcom. “With the ‘Secrets of Dragon’s Spine’ update we are moving into an incredibly exciting part of Robert E. Howard’s work, and I think both ‘Age of Conan’ players and fans of Howard’s work alike will find a lot to enjoy once they get to explore this new content.”

Within the new content, which is aimed at level eighty players, there will be several new dungeons, a new raid area, a massive outdoor region (roughly the same size as the coast of Ardashir), and a new PvP area, as well as a host of new rewards, armor sets, weapons and other cultural items. There will also be a new mount type that will be revealed later on, which is closely linked to the story in the new area. The new dungeons are called The Coils of Ubah Kan, The Sepulchral of the Wyrm and The Slithering Chaos, and will offer the same kind of selection of experiences as in ‘The Savage Coast of Turan’ update.

‘Age of Conan: Unchained’ is one of the most critically acclaimed massively multiplayer online games of all time, and following launch in 2008 – then called ‘Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures’ – the game sold over 1.4 million copies worldwide. Over three million people from all over the world have adventured through the virtual rendition of Robert E. Howard’s legendary world, and the game has become increasingly more popular after several major updates and the switch to a free-to-play model last year.

WHAT WE SHOWED AT GAMESCOM

We just brought The Secret World to GamesCom 2012 to show the world some of our future plans for the game.

We showed off what our players can expect in the near future and a sneak peak of what will be released early next year. The Secret World will regularly be updated with one or more of several types of features: Such as new content, deeper game systems, new raids, more weapons, more dungeons and even complete playfields which introduce whole new chapters to the unique story.

DIGGING DEEPER

The upcoming second Issue of The Secret World, called Digging Deeper, will be out soon. Here players will not only get new missions to play, but also gain access to the first Auxiliary Weapon, the Rocket Launcher, after doing a mission for The Council of Venice.

This is just the first of many Auxiliary Weapons to come, so that players can develop their character any way they like and play exactly as they want to play. Since the Rocket Launcher will be the first of these weapons it will fit in with most builds and setups. Each Auxiliary Weapon comes with seven new abilities players can learn – out of which four are active and three are passive.

The Rocket Launcher offers good damage abilities for both single targets and groups of enemies. Players can also choose the Rocket Jump ability, which will propel them through the air, causing damage both at the starting area and landing spot.

We have created a whole new Ability Wheel for these Auxiliary Weapons and the players who earn one will get an extra active and passive ability slot where they can put their Auxiliary abilities. None of these weapons can be bought or traded, but must be earned by doing special missions. They can however all be upgraded to become more powerful, and when completing very difficult dungeons players can be rewarded with specific skins they can use on their Auxiliary Weapon to change its looks.

Does a Rocket Launcher from Hell tempt anyone?

Digging Deeper also includes a barber shop, Ockham’s Razor, and a plastic surgeon, The Modern Prometheus, where players can change the appearance of their characters. Here they can choose from a much wider array of looks, colors and haircuts, in effect expanding the character creator quite drastically.

PLAYER VERSUS PLAYER

Another question raised at GamesCom was about the coming updates to PVP, and there is definitely good news in the near future for those who enjoy this aspect of The Secret World. There will be more things to do in Fusang Projects, with more missions and challenges.

More persistence will also be introduced as the significance of holding on to captured Facilities is increased and the center Facility will become more important. This will cause battles to become more strategic and have a greater impact on the game world, because Facilities will not switch hands as often as before.

Smaller changes are also coming to Stonehenge and El Dorado, with the tweaking of systems and leveling of the playfield. The changes to PVP are coming alongside an effort to balance the numbers from each Secret Society participating in the battle.

RAID IN NEW YORK

But the fun does not stop there. In the next few months a whole new Raid is coming to The Secret World! Disaster has struck New York City, and the players will need to travel there in groups of ten, to investigate the threat and deal with whatever lurking horror awaits them.

This is the mostly unedited, full-length presentation held for press behind closed doors at GDC 2012, featuring Senior Producer Ragnar Tørnquist, Lead Designer Martin Bruusgaard and Lead Content Designer Joel Bylos presenting all new features and content. The presentation includes a first look at character creation, the Dragon starter experience, the achievements and lore system, crafting and Transylvania.

The video contains both direct feed from the game as well as footage from the presentation itself. The light conditions in the presentation parts of the video is not optimal for video, and the reason for this is that it was shot during a live press demo and lights had to be kept down to ensure the best possible viewing experience for the people in attendance.

Durham, USA – January 17th, 2012 – Funcom is excited to announce the successful launch of ‘House of Crom', a free update for Funcom’s massively multiplayer online game ‘Age of Conan: Unchained’. This massive content update is available to both Premium players and those enjoying the free-to-play offering, giving everyone the opportunity to explore the ancient halls of The House of Crom, a location that stretches over two huge in-game dungeons.

“We are very excited to see such a great reaction from the players,” says Game Director Craig Morrison. “’The House of Crom adds a large number of new encounters and content for our veteran players. The social dungeon supports multiple groups at the same time, allowing players to experience an open and shared MMO experience that harks back to the early days of MMO exploration, where players must co-operate in order to succeed. These areas are the largest indoor dungeons yet created for the game, and provide a fantastically epic, and massive, backdrop to the player's latest adventures.

Launching in May 2008 ‘Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures’ quickly became a smash hit in retail, shipping over 1.4 million copies around the world. Soon after going free-to-play last year, ‘Age of Conan: Unchained’ hit the impressive milestone of over two million players having experienced the online world of Hyboria. The game is now available in English, French, and German, and is also operating in Korea.
