miss u wobre peeps <3
Anyway, so my idea is dead, but it wasn’t even PonPon’s (Marigold’s) original idea. So if he’s still down to organize something on someone else’s TF2 server, this year or next, I’m in!
The announcement was given in this discussion , but it was indeed shut down after a couple of months or so due to the lack of playerbase after the first month / weeks, and if I remember correctly, it got closed also because of the drama created within the server.
Would love to participate whenever it happens!
For the discord server, I don't know about it, althought there was an announcement relatively long ago about a discord server with plans for the 1/2-day/s wobre revival, but the link to it expired.
As for the "another server" part, ED-E said that there's a chance that this year there will be either a day or two (depending most likely on how many people actually show up) W1 - Sop that tank server and potentially W3 - Freak Fortress, but this only applies if Appel or M7 want to collab again for this event.
Long story short is pretty much explained here. The first "deadline" for the event was either end of June / July, but it got postponed to end of the year due to ED's lack of time to check up throughly on the stability of the server, and because most of the plugins from the 2017-2020 era is rather outdated and doesn't work anymore.
I really look so forward for the official community MvM update, it always bugged me that Valve stopped extending it over 10 years ago, despite the community made some stellar maps. If they throw in some more Australiums and cosmetics, Ill check it out for sure.
But I assembled some hardware from the dismantled parts of old servers. The good news is the harddrives, os and database seem to work. The bad news, for now is, during the past 5 years Valve switched the server software to 64 bit. This broke a lot of stuff from the modding framework i used to work with.So in the coming weeks i hopefully can spend some time to give it a proper look if its salvage or too much effort for a day or two reunion.

Just in case your looking for one.
All in all, i'm up for any event, wether it's wobre / non-wobre server
Yeah I will not invest time to get some minor third party plugins, like Tetris, to get working for W3, or server jumping. But I still would want the core experience of WOBRE be back, even if its just for one last nostalgic day or two (would like to make some video recordings).
I should know by mid next month if its feasable or if it's better to just raid an empty but good community server. Even if we are just a very small and exclusive gang than I sponser some MvM rounds. We could do a little game where the player with the worst loot gets something valueable at the end. Like https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/groups/MvM_Looser_Pot
@PonPon
Sounds good to me, as mentioned above, mid next months I should know what options we have and we can decide together how we want to celebrate. c:
But in all seriousness I would be fine with just invading a random server or just hosting a very basic one at that for a reunion where the main reason is to play a bit together.
I would hate to see a lot of time and effort being put into reviving W1 with most plugins intact just for a handful of people to show up.
Don't get me wrong I would like it but if the demand isn't there I would say let's keep it simple and realistic.
As for W3...I just wanted to make a shutdown W3 reference
Either way, I'll be looking forward to this reunion idea!
