Nexus Drop is a relatively recent project run by one person. It is similar to Firefall and is showing a lot of progress from the developer. I haven't checked what the downloadable demo of em8er looks like recently but I'm not sure it's worth following up on at this point. Way too much fundraising through skins and very slow progress.

There is already a test version of E8ber available, not free but you can get it for 35$. Taking quite long to develop a game like that. By buying your monthly subscription you can alternatively access their older dev builds. Check their discord for frequent updates. You can find videos on YouTube and the game does look like Firefall for what it is now, except it's going to get better in the future

Firefall was the greaest game i've ever played until Update 1.6
