The Dai Li was the secret and elite police of Ba Sing Se who worked to capture, interrogate, and imprison political dissidents. The organization was founded by Avatar Kyoshi with the aim of "protecting the cultural heritage of Ba Sing Se

The Dai Li became corrupt over time and did not fulfill the purposes proposed and intended by its founder. Long Feng was able to conspire with the Dai Li and effectively rule Ba Sing Se, reducing the position of the Earth King to nothing more than a figurehead. The Dai Li's corruption and decadence was so advanced that they later came under the command of Princess Azula, relinquishing any loyalty to the Earth Kingdom, and assisting the Fire Nation in the capture of Ba Sing Se.

Methods, equipment, and abilities :The Dai Li were highly skilled master earthbenders, whose talents even surpassed those of the Earthbender Guards of the Royal Palace. They wore gloves and shoes, both made out of earthen materials, in order to earthbend on the go. Their shoes also gave them the ability to slide along the ground, increasing their speed

The Dai Li were adept at using their stone shoes to cling to sheer rock surfaces, such as walls or ceilings. Mastery of this wall technique has been a part of their training ever since their inception and was therefore one of their most used skills. They carried a binding "weapon" called surveyors' chains within their robes, which they threw from their sleeves to ensnare and hold prisoners, particularly other earthbenders in order to inhibit their bending.They appeared to use hypnosis to persuade rebels and up-risers, such as Jet, that there was no war within the walls of Ba Sing Se. Most of Ba Sing Se's citizens seemed to fear them and wanted nothing to do with them, knowing that only trouble could arise from meddling in any of their affairs.

The Dai Li seemed to be trained to work in pairs, which would give them greater strength and power than a single agent. This grouping of two can be seen when they attacked Toph at Lake Laogai, when they spied on Team Avatar as they left their house

A year after the Hundred Year War, the Earth Kingdom acquired the specs for hot air balloons and incorporated the aircraft in their own line of warfare, albeit modified to now sport the Earth Kingdom emblem and colors. The Earth Kingdom Army is the largest and most important branch of the military. Similar to the Fire Nation, Earth Kingdom armies consist of benders as well as regular foot soldiers.

Equipment and uniform:Soldiers, both benders and non-benders, carry a wide variety of weapons from spears, swords, and other various polearms to more unusual weapons such as hammers, axes, and sickles. Soldiers are typically attired with specially-armored conical helmets, which have also been shown to function in battle as an impromptu shield against fire blasts. Non-bending soldiers wear a headdress underneath this headgear. They also appear to be more heavily protected than their bending counterparts and wear boots, in contrast to bending soldiers who are often barefoot in order to fully utilize their earthbending abilities. Helmets designed for benders are pointed and decorated with the Earth Kingdom emblem. Officers wear yellow armor instead of the standard green variant.

Infantry clothing appears to be color-coded. Non-benders wear an olive drab green. However, out of bending soldiers:
■ Omashu soldiers wear leaf green.
■ Iroh's kidnappers wore yellow and light brown.
■ General Fong's soldiers wore light green.
■ Ferry guards wear brown-on-tan uniforms.
■ Ba Sing Se soldiers have more diverse uniforms in black and yellow.

Heavier equipment:Earth Kingdom cavalry consists of ostrich horses, animals which can carry soldiers over long distances as well as run at high speeds almost vertically for short distances. They are often geared with armor. These creatures either serve as a means of transportation for soldiers or as mounts for non-bending members of the army that are outfitted with spears. By riding on the ostrich horses, non-benders can quickly avoid projectiles and other forms of attack from foot soldiers.

Earthbenders use heavy circular stones, comparable to the height of an average person, as artillery and catapult projectiles. They are meant to resemble the emblem of the Earth Kingdom, and as such, they bear similarities to the common currency, with the square in the center of the emblem usually carved out. The stones have a variety of other uses, such as lining them up consecutively to create a mobile defensive wall or stacking them to build a makeshift lookout tower. Skilled earthbenders can also use them as a means of transport by "riding" in the square hole in the center of the disk and rolling it with their bending.

The mechanist, a brilliant Earth Kingdom inventor, designed and produced several highly advanced earthbending-powered tanks for the Earth Kingdom to use in what was ultimately a failed attempt to invade the Fire Nation. These tanks are powered by four earthbenders and can carry at least a dozen troops, with side hatches that allow earthbenders to hurtle projectiles at enemy forces. The tanks are multi-segmented, allowing them to bend and flex in a manner similar to the movement of caterpillars. This feature makes it possible for the tanks to traverse practically any terrain, crawl over and even crush obstacles or enemy vehicles, make wide turns, and twist upright should one be overturned They have exceptionally thick armor that can deflect all manner of fire blasts. These new vehicles were more than a match for the Fire Nation armored forces at the time of their invention and debut in battle.

Opened fairly recent, the citizens of Gaoming were informed of this school through viewing advertisements on flyers distributed by a local resident. One particular exercise seen involved pupils levitating boulders and speedily striking them as thought they were "striking through [their] opponent's head". Similar to real-world dojos, the granting of certain belts and ranks was demonstrated.

Beifong Metalbending Academy :This earthbending academy focused on teaching students to master metalbending, beginning with seismic sense. Owned and operated by Toph Beifong, the academy was positioned just overlooking the Fire Nation colony of Yu Dao. Or the Ba Sing Se Monorail is an enormous train network stretching across the whole city of Ba Sing Se, connecting all three rings. It serves as the city's mass transit system. The monorail is pushed from one end of the rail network to the other by a group of elite earthbenders.

Schematics:Each train is powered by two earthbenders standing at the end of the vehicle, pushing it along the tracks. Inside, there are benches provided for easy travel comfort, as well as overhanging bars, so travelers could hold on to them in case there was no more room to sit down. The schematics of the monorail show that the windows of the train are covered with paper to hold the wind out. People can slide these windows up in case they would want to take a glance outside.

Earth Kingdom supply trucks are treaded supply vehicles designed by the mechanist and fabricated at the Northern Air Temple. They were used along with much more equipment in the Invasion of the Fire Nation, where they were primarily utilized to transport and supply earth and water for the bending factions of the invasion force.

Design:These vehicles were designed to carry weapons and bendable elements for use by the warriors and benders who made up the invasion force. Each truck is operated by a single driver, is made entirely of metal, and possesses a large flatbed able to carry earthen boulders, jugs of water, fire bombs, and so forth.

Connection:These trucks bear a resemblance to tractor vehicles used by different factions during World War II, such as the Russian Voroshilovets Heavy Tractor. They are similar in design to real-world open-tray dump trucks, as they have an open cabin, and they operate similarly to real-world trucks, with the exception of the treads.

Design:Earthbending-powered tanks are multi-segmented tracked vehicles powered by four earthbenders. The treads are made of plates of earth strung together by a metal wire, which is how the earthbenders can control the tank. They can carry many troops and can cross over almost any terrain. Their armor is invulnerable to fire, making them ideal for assaults on enemy positions. Powered by earthbending, these tanks are articulated in the middle, allowing them to rear up and crush enemy targets such as tanks and small bunkers. They can swerve around enemy forces easily and make good shields for ground troops. They even sport side hatches that open up so that earthbenders can launch projectiles like rocks and boulders at enemy troops. Being made of very strong metal, they were also used as barricades to protect warriors.

Weaknesses:Once the Earth Kingdom tanks are knocked on their sides or back, they are helpless on the battlefield until they are set up straight again. However, they can be used as protective barricades in the meantime.
