sorry one last remark as you said trailers are a worthy feature for you :
- just call bigpicture mode and you can play trailers from the store ...

and it's funny because it's not possible using 'steam internet browser' from the overlay

no clue if this can help you , but at least it works on local ( need to be tested with an old steam client not on local mode ( comment on manifest release number ) )

- i am not your enemy as i also using w7 home premium where i get last "quality update" in 2020 and using a steam client from april 2023 so do not use a bad way of thinking ... just be more reasonable ...
- everything have a cost , in term of mindthinking and solving issue but for this case ( that i also have ) the easiest one is to use recent browser

atm trailer are not working due to an update and won't work anymore on old steam client , and you can prey any kind of god, it will stay like that unless you decide to use last client (

and not an older one like mine or yours ...
and you can easily bypass this issue using firefox ....

may be people will be able to recode js, css, and so on to make it working on old client but why ?
when it have 0 value as you can bypass ( solv it ) it using your browser ( it would have been a waste of time imo even for skilled dev and we have some here)
it's allways an "arbitration" between gain and time and for these case , all the balance is on the browser side ( nothing need to be done because you can play trailer from the store page using any browser ) ...
with some exception :
call overlay browser and navigate to the steam store, and no trailer can be seen too

because i have myself the issue on my old client and it's the same for many other things that occurs in old clients ( zstd issue, store issue, etc ... )
if you do not want to be affected by theses you have an easy choice to do :
- change your os
or
- use vxkex

As if I already wasn't capable of copy-pasting that address from the Steam's UI into one of my browser's pages solution, especially considering that I've also got the Steam App for cellphones that allows me to quick log in if it's a title that I'm following and/or have upon my "Wishlist".

Although if you actually have a working solution inside the Steam's previous UI, then I'm all willing to read and try to learn it. :winter2019happybulb:

can't realy remember what was the issue under xp with store change, but i've remember some issues with steamui.dll

and yes it won't be an issue with client using vxkex if you decide to stay on w7

so wait and see
the use of zstd is annoying but mostly affect new games and updates so it's still can be handled with depotdownloader or steamcmd easily ( not all games have frequent update ...may be greenlight more than others - no real clue here , just my point of view .

These files download as expected - the file is decompressed before Valve serves it to your PC as a download. This could be used as workaround later, if needed.

Also, for anyone who is worried about losing access to their cloud saves, you can use a tool like this:
github dot com/pyscsd/steamCloudSaveDownloaderGUI
to batch download the cloud save files for all your Steam games. This tool's platform and interface sucks but it will automatically download all your cloud saves, which is better than manually downloading 3000 files from the steam website by hand.
