Alcohol misuse cost the United States $249 Billion every year. Globably, 3.3 million people died of alcohol misuse in 2012.

This doesn't even speak about the burdens on familys, friends, neighbours, and indeed the psychological toll on the community as a whole. So yes, yes it is killing you slowly; it's killing us all slowly.
