If you are using the in-game compiler (which you should be using), then it will automatically compile your model in the \tf\models\workshop\player\items\ folder. So when you go to (Steam) Load model, find that folder.

Texture not showing up on weapon and other questions.
Well let's try the simplest vmt possible just to check:

Put your texture/material files in your \Steam\steamapps\common\Team Fortress 2\tf\materials\models\player\items\soldier\ folder.

Also, make sure your material applied correctly. You can check by opening your .smd file with notepad++ and checking to see if the material name is showing up correctly (it should say something like "materialname.tga" and then a bunch of coordinates).

As for the incorrect positioning, you'll just need to redo your rig. Simple bone error. Start with a freshly imported character or weapon model and reassign the bones (and re-export).

So this is interesting... I just tested it myself. I have the same problem. I guess the batch file doesn't work anymore. However, the actual hlmv.exe program works. Load that up, then go to file > (Steam) Load model > load your model. It should work.
The batch file is what you want. It should run the command prompt for a bit and then open the hlmv after. I'm not sure why it crashed in your case...

Positioning/Scale for bones
You might want to start with a fresh rig. Start a new blender scene, import the sniper + his bone rig again, import your model, reassign bones and re-export. You can normalize the position/scale/rotation of your model by pressing ctrl+a and selecting "position", "scale", and "rotation" (after you already positioned your model and assigned it to the appropriate bones).
Generally it's a good idea to just reset everything to 0 0 0. You can try compiling without zeroing the model and seeing what happens.

The SDK no longer works (it has been glitched for months).

Use the "new" TF2 SDK:

-Navigate to your /Steam/SteamApps/common/Team Fortress 2/bin/ folder
-Find the batch file titled "hlmv.bat" and open this file
-Voila! TF2-specific source SDK that should work

I'm not sure. I've never had that problem before... sorry :/

Maybe ask the facepunch forums. They might have figured it out.
