My first thought was the tattoo texture as well. I haven't actually done anything like this myself, so I don't know how to go about doing it. Usually in cases like these I just dig through the vpk files, extract something similar, and then examine how it was done.

Try mimicking what valve did.

I think the helmet looks way cooler out-of-game. It may have to do with the shading settings. Try fiddling around with your _mask textures to get the shading how you want it.

imgur is amazing... it even allows you to upload images directly from your clipboard (i.e. if you printscreen > go to imgur.com > press "ctrl+v" > it will upload your picture directly. Very handy!)

This set is incredible! I like it very much (especially the shoulder piece). Personally I think the helmet's shape is perfect, however, the facial features seem flat. It's not a huge issue, but it could be modified if you wished.

What ended up being the fix for your guanlets?

First load in the player model by going to file > load model. Then load in your item by going to file > load weapon.

Making the player greyscale will require you to actually make a greyscale texture of the character and place it in your clientside files so that the hlmv reads the greyscale texture instead of the color on in the vpk.

Did you use the model that valve supplied in the technical requirements page? It might be that the model is bugged and that you have to decompile the sven model yourself to get the correct bone rig. Wyk explains how to decompile a model here: http://wyksblog.com/getting-started-dota-2-cosmetics/

At least the first part to figure out how to configure the SDK correctly. Personally I haven't used icyeyes' SDK launcher.

Try making your vmt like that. I realize that some parameters cannot be set using the new system... but try and mimic it as much as possible (i.e. make sure it's translucent, check the box for evnmap, etc.)
