A few people have had this problem... Nobody knows what causes it, and as far as I know everyone does something different to fix it. You could try several things:

1) Import it with a random name just to check (i.e. "aswefjaskdjgaksgja")
2) Verify the integrity of the game cache files for TF2 and retry the import process
3) Delete your workshop files locally (or move them out of the steam folder) and retry

None of those worked

Whenever I try to submit my hat, it says that it can't import it because I have an item under the same name, even though I only have 2 items on the workshop, and I've got no related hats like that in my medic workshop folder.

Ps, doesn't take effect when I use a viewpoint AKA Numpad 1, 7, etc

It becomes harder to pan/zoom the more I zoom in close to the object that I have selected. As in, at one point I can't zoom anymore or pan, and I'm not even that close up. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Manually you can select 2 vertices and press "alt+m".

Don't apply the edgesplit modifier. There is no need. It's called edgesplit because it splits edges. It only does so when you 1) apply the modifier or 2) export the model. So there is no need to apply it since it automatically applies when it exports.

How do I fuse vertices together?

I usually find that the best people to ask about this kind of problem are the people who have just recently overcome it. Like, a person who has made his first workshop submission with credit to helljumper. That's how I overcame the same problem you have.

Anyone know how to undo edge angle modifiers? Like, remove them?
