Camera controls
I need help. When I try to drag around when looking at the engineer model, I can't move my view around. I'm in serious need of advice. I don't mean camera controls like where the movie's viewpoint will be, I just need to know how to drag my view around when editing a model.

Assuming you have a mouse with a midde mouse button:

Middle Mouse Button - rotate
shift + MMB - pan
scroll wheel - zoom

I don't have a middle mouse button because I use a trackball. I do have a scroll wheel preinstalled into my keyboard, though

You should seriously get a real mouse. Otherwise I'm fairly certain you can change middle mouse button to another key: User Preferences window > View & Controls tab > change the key.
