self illumination?
Hello I was wondering if someone could explain to me how to make certain parts of my model glow? Is it similar to making an item paintable? Thanks for all responses

Unwrap the faces of your model that you want to glow onto a separate UV space. Add a new material to the model and assign this material[dl.dropboxusercontent.com] to the faces that you want to glow (make sure you have 2 materials at this point: one for the main model and one for the glowing parts). If you correctly assigned 2 materials to your model, you should see VMT1 and VMT2 when you import the .smd into TF2 like in this picture.[dl.dropboxusercontent.com]

Import your regular texture to VMT1 and proceed as normal. For the VMT2, you'll want to import a .tga file that has a white alpha channel (or a spectrum from white to black depending on how much glow you want. More white = more glow, black = no glow). Make sure to import this .tga file into the "Shared Illum Mask" option and then check the Self Illumination box.
