Uploading your work to the workshop is the last step of the process and is just as important as everything else in modeling. Don't cut corners here; make sure you get really nice renders or in-game screenshots (and if you can, do paintovers for promotional purposes). A few quick screencaps within blender is not sufficient to get people to vote for your item.
It is a good concept, but the hat could use a lot of work. Currently it appears to be really flat (i.e. one solid color). Do hats ever look like that in real life? No. Break up the flat with some texture detail or small geometry details.
Don't be too hard on yourself, though, especially if this is your first model. Just keep at it.
